I am looking to buy a 380R I'm new and NEED HELP!!

Hi guys, I am looking to buy a roush right now and I just checked out a 380R today but I had a few questions on the pricing and also the options it had so see if you can help me with both. Here is what I know about the car from looking at it: The car is red with white stripes and has the 300R badging with a roush supercharger and a badge on the front engine brace (I forgot what this badge says)
it has 18x9 front rims and 18x10 rear rims with the alcon brakes and slotted rotors
roush signed leather seats
short throw shifter ( felt great but had original shift knob still)
tool box in rear of car
spoiler
right hand passenger side has roush id #
passenger side is signed by Jack Roush
The car has 24,800 miles on it but is in near perfect condition inside and out (really near perfect!)
Seller asking 27,000 for the car
OK, here is what seems strange to me -the guy who is selling the car says it is an '02 car and so does Carfax ( I checked) but I see that the 380R was not made until '03. Can anyone tell me why this car seems like a '02 380R?
The other thing that I noticed was that the suspension seemed fairly soft and I looked under the car and saw a blue front sway bar but I could not see anything else due to the size of the wheels.
The only other thing I noticed was that the car was very quiet like similar to a stock GT which seemed strange given that the write-ups I saw on a 380R said the exhaust was intense. I am thinking possibly one owner put mufflers on it to quiet it down for traveling? (very strange)

Lastly, the carfax shows the car being titled for the first time in May '03 but showing 8,300 miles at that time. I don't understand that at all?

Please help me with this if you have any ideas on what I have told you and also let me know what you think is a good price for this car. The guy said it had an original list of 58-59k with 28k being Roush mods but I don't know.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I really loved the car but I need to make sure I am buying something good and hopefully you can help me with that!!!

Tim

Sounds like the car is ligit. The milage when it was first sold tells me it was a Roush Reps demo car.
As far as the exhaust goes it is probably stock. Not all cars had the Magnapac exhaust installed. If you saw a blue swaybar than most likely the rest of the suspention upgrade is there as well.
One thing to check is the badge just in front of the shifter, that will give you the year and number car it is

Yeah 380R's exhaust exit the rear, a couple owners have converted out the side. As far as price goes, I think it's a steal and it is probably ligit, the badge on the FEAD tells me this

How much would you pay for this car in mint condition? The car really is in show car condition and if the car read 2,500 miles instead I would believe it -it's just that clean. Give me a price I should offer. Thanks again for the help guys!

I personally have always thought buying a "used" sports car was bad news. You never know what amateur driver had it before you and what type of dogging it out they did. Obviously if it was a Demo the dealers where having a great time joy riding it all over the place and that's why they put 8300 miles on it. That's ridiculous. Then the new owner put another 16,000 miles on top of that. Unless I was getting a nice warranty I wouldn't pay 27k for a car with that many miles on it. A luxury car, maybe, but not a sports car. Luxury cars can be dogged out too, but not as likely. You don't have to worry about an old man mixing gears and redlining a mercedes, but you have to worry about a dealer whose frantic about this new Roush he got on his lot that he knows he's not going to buy for himself, so he's going to drive the shyt out of it while he can. I think you need to keep searching and the right one will come along for you. Patience is a virtue and it worked for me. Just my thoughts!!!

No they have to put the Roush swaybar on all the S/c cars for clearance issue's with the oil filter relocation. So it is possible it has the stock gt springs and shocks.

I would call Roush to verify the car if you are real interested. 1-800-59-ROUSH

This sounds like the car that is for sale at the Toy Store in largo FL. I email them and they sent me this

"The car was done in November 2002 (2003 model year). It is a 380R. Jack Roush signed the car on two separate occasions at Brandon Ford and the car was used during one of his presentations there. Serial #7321 on the door jamb. There is no plate in front of the shifter. You can contact Roush with the vin # and they will give you any details you require. Best regards, Paul McNeeley"

I don't know if it is true or not...?
