What heads to use on a 2v?

Any recommendations on ported heads and blower cams for a Stage 3 car? Anybody have any experiences to share?

For the money, Patriot heads are probably the best bang for the buck (5 angle CNC port job). For flat out performance, I would suggest the Fox Lake Racing heads (7 angle CNC port job). If you look at who makes the heads on the winning racers, they come from Fox Lake. Unless you are going 600hp+ (maybe it was 500, I don't remember), the feedback I have recieved from several sources is that blower cams don't get you much because the forced induction is doing the work already. My Fox Lake heads flow 223 intake and 193 exhaust at .550 lift. That is with the air dams left in and with the stock intake, cams, and pulley, I still passed CA emissions on the Roush tune. Don't compare against the .600 numbers because most streetable applications use closer to .550. Do make sure that wherever you get them, they sleave the spark plug holes from the 4-thread to a 10-thread. That little mistake cost me another $2500 to pull the engine again when I blew the #4 plug right through the threads.

Well I have to suggest my mods for your question, see my sig.

Ported heads - Patriot Stage II
Cams - Houston Performance S292 (designed for blower applications)

I will share my experience though, please read carefully:

I started out with the Patriot Stage II heads and Comp Cams 262AH's (that sat in a box for a few months). A few months later I purchased the blower and thought "oops I shouldn't have bought the 262AH's" but I tried them out anyway and had the Patriot heads, Com Cams, and blower installed all at once. The car made 380rwhp at 6psi. 300 miles later, I had smoke (oil burning) blowing out the side. Not knowing what the problem was I sent the banged up heads to Patriot in Alabama where a guy named "Gunnar" took care of me and fixed everything for free even though he thought it was the cams causing PTV contact that F'd up the valves. Turns out, the bigger valves in the ported Patriot Heads were making contact with the higher lifting 262AH's (not Patriot's fault). That's when I turned to Kauffman Motorsports in Dillsburg, PA. They suggested I go with a blower cam and lower lift, the mechanic was making 540 rwhp at 15psi with a ported Bullit intake and STOCK heads, and Houston Performance cams, so I said I have to get these cams. Everything worked out, the contact wasn't there anymore and with a new tune I made 440rwhp at 6psi. Another popular blower cam are the VT cams, but, they're hard to obtain 'I hear' but, they have ported VT heads as well, VT will cost you a little more. My car passed emissions and that's all that matters to me.

Tim has great blower cams also and he wont post the specs.
Other then that the Vt engines guys cams for 2vs are really good and make great power and have a good idle. Either stage 1 or 2 are good, but if you go roots then the 1s are what I would do.

Patriot heads have always been hit or miss. I have seen a lot of hits and a lot of misses....

Modular Power House Heads PERIOD. And then their custom cams.... Tim and Andy (mostly Tim) they know their 2v's better than anyone else.
