ATTN: Drag racers - I have questions

I was curious, since I'm a noob. Whats the deal with drag slicks on Stage 3's? Will they fit? And if so, what size do you use and brand? Do you have to remove the rear brake rotors and swap them for a GT's? Would you suggest a line locker? Wheres a good place to get one? Would drag radials be more convieniant? I was reading on a local tracks website you have to wear a DOT approved helmet if you're gonna run a 13 sec pass. Also people talk about drive shaft retaining loops. Where do I get one of those or do I even need one?

im sure you cant run 15"s on the rear with the roush brake kit

jsut buy a spare set of wheels for out back with drag radials.

the slp linelock kit seems to be the best kit available. all the lines are prebent for an easy install

if you run slicks you will need a ds loop

I would just stick with drag radials but be aware you need to upgrade your axles. I wouldn't spend the money on slicks.

Id say just do some bfg drag radials as they wont hook as hard as slicks. On drag radials you can just slip the clutch out at a higher rpm that way you wont shock the rear end if you did end up hooking hard. Thats what i do til i get my rear done. You would need to build your rear first before launching on slicks. And yeah you would need a driveshaft loop if on slicks.

There is not point to buy slicks unless you are only at the track. If you want street/strip go with the Nitto 555R Drage Radial. They launch really quick!

When we bolted up slicks to our Old Stage 3, we had to swap out the Alcons with a set from a GT. The slicks did not fit with the Alcon break set up!

It was 1/8 mile and we were in the low 8's with it... We had to put on a helmet at that point!

Well i believe you can clear the alcons with a 16 or 17 inch wheel. What seems to be a popular tire is the M/T et drag radial. Its kinda like a cheater slick with only a few grooves on the tire. ANd let me tell you they are a soft tire and i think youll hook up good. Take a look
