A/C question

When I got my engine swap done last summer, I was missing an A/C component, so I picked it up and installed it. Well, the whole system needs to be recharged and filled now. My question is....is the A/C system connected to the coolant system? Reason I ask this is because some of the coolant parts like the resevoir were retained from the V6 so I want to be able to explain to a tech my problem exactly and be able to tell him what diagrams to look at, whether it be the V8 or V6 diagrams.
