Unhappy Clutch call...

So, my clutch gave up the ghost on its third pass down the track. Not enough that I couldn't get it on the trailer, but enough that there were fibers by the inspection plate. So.... What I'm looking for is info on what your running as far as High Performance clutches, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch cable and quadrant.. I've noticed some on here with the Spec stage 2, but what about;

1. Zoom
2. Centerforce
3. Ram
4. Whatever is left.

Who has deals on any of these?

Let me know, Thanks...

Centerforce is junk i have had three of there clutches lay down on me. I would buy another one of those in my life. I have the Spec Stage 2 Plus and I love it for street and track use. It also holds the power that my car is making on spray so i'm happy with it.

I have Centerforce Dual friction and have had absolutely no problems with it.
I have been running it for 3 years with numerous track sessions on it...

centerforce dual friction clutch
fidanza aluminum flywheel
stock clutch cable
Maximum Motorsports clutch quadrant & firewall adjuster

Your wasting your money on a stock cobra clutch if your ever going to do anything to your car. The stock clutch in our cars are almost the exact same clutch. Mine lasted about 2 weeks on the built motor. I wouldn't waste my money on putting something stock with something aftermarket.

We run the Spec 2 right now but when it goes we will switch over to Fidanza most likely. Might stick with Spec though. It is a good piece, but I might upgrade to the Spec 3.

Hey Tony, buy my car. It has a brand new Spec Stage 3 Plus in it. That will solve all your problems.

Tony, if you remember when you drove my heap it had the Spec Stage 2+ clutch along with Fidanza Flywheel, Ford Racing cable, and Steeda quadrant.

Dont know if you liked the feel but at least that gives you an idea...

i can agree with you on alot of OEM stuff but if your pushing the max on a stock GT engine in a stage 3, then an oem cobra clutch is more that capable. and this is from a guy that does nothing but work on mustangs and mcleod. i am pushing 375rwhp, mine's doing just fine so far.

Thats true at 375hp, but at 530hp like my car it wouldn't make since to do factory replacement parts. If i'm going to spend money on my car I might as well buy good and better parts than stock.

Well if it matters I had a 83 Gt on the spray with the TKO 600. It was built for drags and ran 9:00 ets. The only one that worked for me was the centerforce DFX with Aluminum flywheel. Total car was 2800 pounds and 650 hp with spray...

I agree with both responses. The thing I need to nail down is the " Future " mods.. Would like to just do this once. Its a combination of both HP and Torque. I feel I'm in the middle at 410rwhp and 450rwtq. I'm looking to add some goodies this winter, so I'm leaning in the direction of caution to something with a higher rating..
