Added Rookie Stripes to 2002
After all the thinking about painting the Cobra, I really started wanting to add a set of Rookie stripes to the Roush. So I got back ahold of Steve Cole and got 2" wide orange. I had to move them once(at first I aligned to center of stripes). Didnt look right so pulled and redid so bottom was centered. I tried a few different pinstripes but settled on similar to main stripes.
I also put a new old style Roush banner on the windshield.

 Bro, I love you and all but I'm sorry to say this! THAT LOOKS HORRIBLE!  You were perfect with just the racing stripes! Now I agree with numbnuts Markass when he told me my car looked too busy with all them stickers. Please tell me that's photoshoped.

Dude, The orange stripes was nice. I have seen your car when you started the orange stripes. Now I agree here with the others. Its over the top. Your original plan was nice and I thought you had something here. More sometime is just a little too much. Its your car. Do as you may. Step back and look. You might be finished along time ago. Manny's was strait up. It did not stand out. The black blended into the scheme. The stickers tho were a little much. He knew that. He and I talked about it over a beer one day when he still owned the car.

I dont have one straight on. This is the closest. You can hardly see from straight on, also hardly see from drivers seat.

Not my cup of tea. And why didnt you do both sides? Looks out of place on just one side....
I think it might be cool to do them on both side and get rid fo the racing stripes. One or the other, but both is over the top...

Honestly it looks like you swapped a fender of another car with a different stripe job.

As a way for race teams to differentiate having a couple cars with the same paint scheme, they often painted different markers on the inner fender so they could tell the cars apart on the track and coming into the pits. Hence the stripes being only on one side. Also, some racing circuits used the inner stripes to mark rookies out to the paddock judges and other races.
Thats why they are only on one side. And I personally like how it actually breaks up the sides.

I didn't think I would care for these stripes but I actually kind of like them. IMHO I do think it would look better on both sides....
