To build a "road racer"

Well i decided to turn my Roush into a road racer. Even though it may barley ever see a track to race it on I love the look.. SO part one is weight reduction. Ive started with seats..

I do have both seats that seat is just sitting there. I have to fab up some brackets tomm.

So im looking on ideas to trim the fat. Here is what I have planned.

Already got rid of Spare tire. and rear seats.
Tubular K member with a Coil over setup all the way around.
I do enjoy having a radio.
A/C can go..
How much does all the carpet weigh?
Anyone know the weight on the stock 03 wheels (not chrome)?
I gotta get a cool steering wheel that is detachable..

Ideas welcome

Pretty much your going to have to gut it to loose the weight. The Tublar K member and A Arms is a good start, but you'll still have to trim alot of weight. The stock wheels are like 30lbs a piece i would recommend going with some type of gram light or something like that. What type of performance mods are you going to do? Going to need some more power to be a sole track car.

You want to trim some weight? Gut it, and scrape out all the sound dampening lead or whatever it is that they bond to the car on the interior, including the trunk. That has to be a good 15-20 lbs from what I remember. Also, get rid of your iron block for an aluminum one, that will make a huge different in F/R weight ratio.

Put cage in it, it will add some weight, but the car will handle better and be ALOT safer, where are you located?

(I'm asking because a shop across the lot from the stuntman I work with, is a race shop that builds NICE roll cages, I've seen 2 GT-500s there recently, Cadillac CTSs and Corvettes.)

Put a good set of race belts in the car also. If you put the cage in, you can attach the belts to the cage.
