Surprised at the dealer!

At Gingerman last monthI only ran 1 of the 2 days as I wanted to get home early on Sunday. During my last session I noticed a different feel in the brakes and figured the front pads were going. Even after the session I could feel a shimmy in the brakes when I hit them.

Today the dealer handed me 3 front Stage 3 Brake Pads with cracks. They still had meat about 8 MM but they were cracked. One more than the others.

Well at least I had fun cracking them!

You mean upgrade the front pads?

I thought the front pads were a ceramic HD pad from Roush. I have upgraded the rears. I put the Roush pads back on the front. I am trying my best to stay away from doing so much track time that I have to have multiple sets of pads or tires.

I really just want to have fun!

All the race pads I used developing hairline cracks in the pads were normal and did not hurt anything as long as pieces were not chunking off. Sounds to me like you warped the rotors though.

Fells super smooth with the new pads.

The one pad had a pretty good gap. I think that is what I felt. The new Roush Pads feel just fine. I'll drive it a little harder tomorrow and see if I feel anything different.

Thanks

I used to use the Hawk Blue & Black pads. Didicated pads & rotors. Both the pads & rotors would develop cracks in them. I usually got 6 track days from each before the pads were worn too much and the rotors were too badly cracked. (Not to mention the melted caliper dust boots & tie rod dust/grease seals.)

Have fun!
