2013 Ford Super Duty Platinum out of touch?
This is a story I wrote over at Examiner.com (I'm a contributor over there now). Its an opinion on the new Platium F-Series Super Duty with MyFord Touch.....
On Friday, Ford announced their 2013 F-Series Super Duty pickup that now features a top of the line Platinum trim grade to outclass all others and an all new truck version of their MyFord Touch driver interface.
MyFord Touch has been the source of much controversy in the past couple of years, replacing a half dozen simple controls with a menu laden touch screen and voice activated interface for radio, HVAC an communications controls.
In vehicles we have tested with MyFord Touch such as the 2011 Ford Explorer we found the system to be exasperating if not dangerous to use on the road. It features voice commands to turn on, tune in and set your audio system volume. Voice commands also can turn on your climate control and set your temperature. This is all if you take the time to learn its language and you don't happen to speak with a thick accent of any kind.
