    V6 Roush

I started the thread because I know a lot of people bypass the main page of the forum. I am not sure if I like this at all. J has the only V6 Roush that I ever liked ....

    www.autoblog.com/2012/06/07/roush-adds-v6-powered-2013-rs-mustang-to-lineup
We love Roush's 565 horsepower 2013 Stage 3 Mustang, but not everyone can afford the $50,000 price tag. Granted, Roush also offers less expensive Stage 1 and 2 versions, but for those on a really tight budget the company has announced the 2013 RS Mustang.

Using the V6-powered Ford Mustang as a base, the RS offers up the same wheel and tire package from the Mustang GT with the Brembo package, Roush lowering springs, a subtle body kit, embroidered floor mats, billet pedals and the requisite Roush badging. Customers can also opt for items like upgraded leather seats or a classic cue ball shifter. The 3.7-liter V6 remains untouched, meaning 305 horsepower and 280 lb-ft torque are still on tap.

All of this can be had for $4,000, meaning you can get yourself a genuine Roush Mustang for around for a little over $26,000. Scroll down below to read the official release from Roush.

Saw this yesterday. The front-fascia is even better than the new Stage cars. Sexy 6 for sure.

Well I remember well when the majority of Roush Mustangs were V6's it seemed back in the 1999-2001 era. Id drive up in my Stage 3 and the valet would say to his buddy, "It's just a V6". Then they did more in 2008-2009 ish too. Now that the V6 actually has some scruff, this should be a nice option for some.

I keep thinking about that video of some one taking a V6 over 130 and the drive shaft going.

Ha ha. Well these days everything downstream of the engine on the Mustang is the same whether it be a V6, 5.0 or even Shelby when it comes to drive shaft and axle.

    Here is the video.

I read, incorrectly I guess, that the V6 had a different drive shaft. In the article it was saying that is why they should not be "hopped up"

Agreed. That RS is a looker and an excellent excuse for a DD Roush with MPGs in mind.

Suddenly I have a new car in mind. To be honest, the biggest thing keeping me away from buying a new Roush was the fact that I wanted to try to play in the V6 world again.
This may have sealed the deal for me. It NEEDS Roush wheels right off the bat, though. And a Roush brake option. Leave the power adder to me.

I just read online Autoweek's test of the V6 Mustang.

Roger Hart - Autoweek executive editor. I took part in the story. The reason this Mustang is speed-limited is due, according to Ford public relations, is because of the driveshaft. All V6-powered cars get a one-piece driveshaft while the 5.0-liter cars get a two-piece. The vibrations they get from the one-piece when speeds get above 112 mph is the reason to limit the vehicle speed.

I wonder which brand of one piece DS they used in the V6. Obviously it's a dud. That kid is lucky he didn't splatter himself all over the road. At 120 mph, you can hear the vibration. Instead of backing off, he winds it up to 135 mph and breaks the shaft. What isn't mentioned is he must have used something like a SCT-X3 or similar to defeat the oem speed limiter. On my VPM tune that I just installed last week, it sez the oem 150 mph speed limiter is now non functional..and out of the circuit. VMP warns it's up to the end user to ensure both the tires and DS are speed rated and ditto with DS.

On the base V6 model, which comes with just 215mm tires, they are not speed rated, which is the other reason for the 115 mph speed limiter. I don't trust any DS, regardless of brand. The combo BMR rear tunnel brace + DS safety loop is cheap insurance. It gets installed just aft of the mid point of the shaft. Easier to install..and way more effective than the front brace.
