Nmra Offers Membership, Free Race Entry To All Roush Drag Pak Mustang Owners

NMRA OFFERS MEMBERSHIP, FREE RACE ENTRY TO ALL ROUSH DRAG PAK MUSTANG OWNERS

RP Press Release....

LIVONIA, Mich. (July 10, 2007) - The NMRA is the leading proponent of Ford drag racing in the county and they have seen the potential in the new ROUSH Drag Pak Mustang, the first car manufactured in more than three decades which can go right from the showroom to the drag strip.

Now, the NMRA has made it even easier to go racing with this ROUSH pony car by offering all 50 buyers a free one-year membership into the NMRA and a free race entry at the NMRA Ford Nationals event of their choosing in the ROUSH Modular Muscle category.

"The ROUSH Drag Pak Mustang is a unique vehicle that fits the NMRA mold perfectly and we want to encourage the 50 owners of this exclusive vehicle the opportunity to come and race the car and see how it can perform on the drag strip," said Charlie Harmon, president of ProMedia Events which is the home of the NMRA Ford Nationals. "We know that once these ROUSH owners have a taste of competition and see how much fun an NMRA race can be they will be hooked for life and we are quite pleased to give them a race entry and membership into our organization."

The ROUSH Drag Pak Mustang was the vision of Jack Roush who personally oversaw the development of the car which was tested extensively with more than 200 passes on the drag strip at Milan (Mich.) Dragway and in NMRA competition last year.

"When we returned to having a drag racing program last season I challenged the team at ROUSH Performance to build a car that can be driven to the track, have the tires changed to slicks, and perform on the drag strip," Roush said last year as the car was introduced at the SEMA Show. "This Drag Pak Mustang is the culmination of those efforts." Roush has a fondness for drag racing that goes back to when he began his motorsports career in the late '60s with the "Fastbacks," a group of Ford engineers that pooled their money to go drag racing.

The ROUSH Drag Pak Mustang is available exclusively through Brandon Ford in Tampa, Fla. The inventory of ROUSH vehicles can be found online at www.BrandonFord.com or by calling (813) 246-3673 for details. As previously announced, there will only be 50 of the ROUSH Drag Pak Mustangs manufactured which makes them as collectible as they are competitive.

the drag pak is a marketing ploy, and a complete joke IMO.
For not much money, you can take any s197 stage 3, install real LCAs and relo brackets, install 4:10 gears, a set of drag radials.
than install the pully we all can buy.
But with a real tune, along with a real CAI.
get a pro Drag racer to drive your car, and it will also turn high 11s.
This can be done for about two grand, but like the drag pak, no warranty is in effect.

Under that point of view all Roush cars are a waste of money.

The point behind this particular model is that it offers a person a turn key solution built specifically for a purpose, as opposed to a starting point for a lot of work and time to invest. A concept not unlike other Roush Mustangs. I mean you can go buy a GT and build a car with the same specs for less right? So why buy a Roush?

Why did you buy a Stage 3, when you could buy a GT and throw on some Roush parts, a KB, and some bitchin suspension parts for a whole lot less, and tear up the S3??

Just as a recap to people that dont fully know what a Drag Pack car is, here is a copy of a post from some time back out of this thread: Roush Drag Pack Mustang 2007

The DragPack items are in bold, a lot more than "about two grand".

Well this car is really meant for people who will use it for drag racing. In that way, you will never get resale off a worn out race car.

If you saw the entire list of parts they add to the car on the mechanical drivetrain side of things to make it stand up to racing as a job, you would see that the price tag is actually about the same or less than it would cost to build one just like it.

Standard Equipment:

Front Fascia Kit
Rear Spoiler Kit
Hood Scoop
Front Chin Spoiler
Fog Lamp Blackout
Roush Front Windshield Banner
CWS 18x10 Chrome Wheels
Cooper Zeon 2XS Tires
Drag Pack Serialized Engine Bay Plaque
Roush Drag Pack Floor Mats
Billet Pedals
Dead Pedal
Premium Fuel Sticker
Off-Road Stock Exit Exhaust
ROUSHCharger Smaller Pulley
White face gauges
Short Throw Shifter
Retro Shift Lever
Shifter Ball & Nut
Owners Manual
Graphics
7000 RPM Calibration
SPEC Steel Flywheel
SPEC Disc & Clutch Plate
One Piece Driveshaft
Drive Shaft Safety Loop
4.10 Ring & Pinion Gears
Roush Racing Polished Ring & Pinion
FRP Ring & Pinion Intall Kit
FRP Steel Pinion Sleeve
Friction Modifier
T/A bearing Cap Stud Kit
Moser 31 Spline Rear Axle Shafts
T/A Rear Axle Cover
Eaton Posi Trac Rear Differential
BMR Panhard Rod Relocation Kit
BMR Adjustable Panhard Rod
BMR Adjustable Trailing Arms Lower
BMR Rear Trailing Arm Brackets Lower
BMR Trailing Arms Upper
BMR Trailing Arm Brackets Upper
BMR Rear Stabilizer Bar Bracket Kit
Dampers - Single Adjustable Front, Double Adjustable Rear
Drag Racing Front Wheel Alignment
Shift Light
Battery Relocation Kit
Large Dash Mount Tachometer
Fire Extinguisher
M/T 17" Drag Radial Tires (Rear Extra Set)
17" Wheels (Rear Extra Set)
Open Ended Rear Lug Nuts
Rear Axle Housing Mods - Weld Tubes

Those are just the standard features.

I am not stating anything about the car at all, other than pointing out that the list of parts and components that come with it, installed are worth more than as you quoted, "a couple grand".

than add them up on a w'sale leval, what the componants can be bought for.
you will come up with far less than a drag pak costs, and will have the same machine, less the commercial hype, and it will be about 2K

And my original point is that that rationale also says your Stage 3 is an overpriced, over hyped, waste of money.
