Roushcharger Gets A Horsepower Upgrade, Carries Same Industry-leading Warranty

Press Release From RP

ROUSHCHARGER* GETS A HORSEPOWER UPGRADE, CARRIES SAME INDUSTRY-LEADING WARRANTY

LIVONIA, Mich. (October 2, 2007) - ROUSH Performance, America's leading powertrain engineering group, has added an additional 30 horsepower to their legendary ROUSHcharger* system for the Ford Mustang GT; this increases the output of this supercharger system to a total of 445 horsepower under the hood.

The additional horsepower comes from changing to a slightly smaller pulley and an enhanced PCM calibration to take advantage of the higher spin rate. Customers with a previously installed ROUSHcharger* can upgrade to this High Boost Pressure Pulley by ordering part number 402863 which has a suggested retail price of $389.00.

With the addition of the upgraded ROUSHcharger* any 2005-2008 Ford Mustang GT can be increased to 445 horsepower with 418 lb.-ft. of torque. This is a 48-percent horsepower gain over the stock engine's 300 ponies. This ROUSHcharger* system will soon be legal in all 50 states for both manual and automatic vehicles.

"The ROUSHcharger* is one of the most thoroughly engineered and tested supercharger systems on the market," said Jack Roush. "We have several hundred engineers here at ROUSH and utilized their collective knowledge to create a powertrain upgrade that will perform better than expected each and every time you put your foot on the gas pedal. The ROUSHcharger* has been tested following O.E. requirements and we are certain that it is designed to provide years of trouble-free use."

The ROUSHcharger* is also the only supercharger unit that is protected by the industry's leading warranty which covers the balance on Ford's 3-year/36,000 mile factory drivetrain backing, or one year on ROUSH components for vehicles already beyond this level.

The main components include a ROUSH M90 Roots-style supercharger, intake manifold, air-to-water intercooler system, high-flow fuel injectors and induction system. In addition to this hardware, the key to maximizing performance is the upgraded ROUSH PCM calibration.

The ROUSHcharger* is available in the standard black casing (part number 403309, suggested retail $5,599) or a polished version (part number 403310, suggested retail $5,899). For more information, visit www.ROUSHperformance.com and search for these part numbers or look under the Mustang section of the online store.

Based in Livonia, Mich., "The Art of Performance Engineering" takes place at ROUSH Performance. In addition to the array of Ford Mustang and F-150 styling, handling and performance upgrades, a complete line of performance parts and crate engines are offered. For more information see your local ROUSH dealer, visit www.ROUSHperformance.com or telephone toll-free (800) 59-ROUSH.

*ROUSHcharger* is a trademark of ROUSH Performance.

Give me a break.

$339 for a pulley? You can get a Reichard Racing billet ultra grip pulley for half that.

Let me guess, the install will probably cost another $200.

Roush sure is proud of their stuff.

30 more horsepower? Why insult everyone. Just wait until you cut a new deal with a better blower platform.

I've got an Eaton M112 sitting in my garage that I've been putting off selling that will outperform the Roush Charger. I'll sell it for less than it'll cost you buy and install this pulley from the dealer.

Will this be an upgrade that the dealer will need to do?

I was wondering what the cost of installation will be as well. Wonder if we get our rebate from ROEA on the installation costs?

Add 15 more HP to your ROUSHcharged Mustang with the ROUSH 73mm pulley kit.

This pulley replaces the standard ROUSHcharger pulley.

Kit comes with 73mm pulley, installation instructions, and pre-paid overnight FedEx box for calibration shipment. We will re-calibrate your PCM and ship it back to you overnight.
So you are getting a pulley upgrade with a ROUSH TUNE, that will enable you to KEEP your factory FORD/ROUSH WARRANTY.

So yes, it costs but how many pulleys can you buy where you get a tune with it and you dont void your warranty?

It is not just a pulley..........

No worries! I was reading this thinking - sounds like "new" news , and how coincidental that it was exactly a year ago today?

So this is a NEW upgrade kit?

Not the same kit that upped things by 15hp before?

This is a 445hp pulley and calibration.

You will probably want to check with Roush or one of our parts vendors to see if the part number (calibration) for the previous pulley package is the same or different.

The 2008 ROUSHCharger system you buy off the shelf has 445hp. All 2008 supercharged Roush factory Mustangs have the same new system but are rated at 435hp. The system is the same, but the test procedures are different for cars vs aftermarket parts which is why the 10hp difference in published ratings.

So you will see a 10 difference between what is published for the ROUSHCharger system and the actual cars on the lots, that is why.

Also people, above and beyond the factory warranty, don't overlook the emissions/CARB certification aspect. That's a VERY costly item to get if you didn't know...

I think 15 or 30 is not the question. The part number is a 445hp calibration.

So, wherever you started from the 445hp is where you end up.

Took me a minute, but I follow. Question now is, when did the part # 402863switch from a 15 hp upgrade to a flat 445hp mark?

As I understand it from Roush, there is no difference.

This press release came out today because what has been offered in the past as an upgrade (part # 402863) is now a standard part of the ROUSHCharger systems being sold going forward and is certified with the warranty. It is also now standard on the 2008 production cars.

Now does that make sense?

OK, so now I'm a bit confuzzled....

So, now the extra HP is coming from not only the pulley, but a new calibration that has just come out? In other words, my Roushcharger with the smaller pulley and calibration, that was installed in May of this year, might be eligible for another, new, just released calibration for an additional 15HP above and beyond the one that was released this spring?

Or, is this all one in the same and they are just correcting the HP to what it should have been advertised as, all along?

I think that installation is up to the owner. The price of the part does not include it. If you want the dealer or an independent shop to do it there would be a charge.

As I understand the ROEA / Roush Rebate program, it would not include services, just the cost of the parts.
