Roush Stage 3 Suspension Available To All Mustang Owners

Press Release:

ROUSH STAGE 3 SUSPENSION AVAILABLE TO ALL MUSTANG OWNERS WHO WANT TO PULL Gs

LIVONIA, Mich. (July 31, 2008) - One of the things that sets the ROUSH®
Stage 3™ Mustang apart from the competition is the road-hugging,
highly-tuned suspension package. Previously, this vaunted suspension
package was only available as part of a ROUSH Stage 3 vehicle build, but
now anyone with a 2005 to 2009 Ford Mustang can feel what a 1G lateral
skid pad rating can give you on the daily drive.

Developed by some of the top chassis engineers in the industry, the
ROUSH Stage 3 Suspension Package is the result of hundreds of hours of
testing and thousands of miles on both the street and racetracks across
the country. Tests, including slalom, lane change, skid pad, and were
performed on a wide variety of road surfaces to provide the best
combination of ride comfort and road handling. Data was captured and
evaluated using a DIVAS Data Acquisition System, the same equipment used
by the Ford vehicle engineers. Overall, it took more than six months of
non-stop research and development to create one of the finest
suspensions available today.

The complete kit includes springs, dampers, jounce bumpers and
anti-roll bars which work together in harmony and provide optimum
performance on the street or track. The suggested retail is $1,499.00
(part number 401761), and when installed will lower the car
approximately one inch for a more aggressive stance. All instructions
and necessary OEM-grade hardware is included.

The front anti-roll bar is more than 45 percent stiffer than the stock
unit and is a solid material, unlike most others on the market which are
hollow. This helps to significantly reduce body roll, and ROUSH takes
the additional step to forge and machine the bar ends so that all the
joints are parallel and surfaces match for joint integrity. The rear
anti-sway bar is also solid and is heavier to help balance the vehicle
and remove some of the understeer that is a characteristic of the
Mustang.

The twin-tube shocks have a unique valving and will keep the maximum
tire contact patch on the ground, even while driving over uneven
terrain. They were developed in part with an advanced 7-post shaker rig
like many of the NASCAR teams now utilize to hone their chassis setups.
Like all the metal components in the Stage 3 Suspension Package, the
shocks are powder coated for corrosion resistance. The springs
themselves are cold wound and made from high chrome silicone steel. They
are pre-set so they won’t sag.

The ROUSH engineers paid particular attention to the bushings and
jounce bumpers, areas other companies tend to overlook. The bushings,
though stiffer than OEM, are a bit softer than other third-party pieces
which allows for more compliance over low speed bumps. There is a unique
spiral groove cut in the front and rear bushings which helps to keep the
grease in place and quiets the unit. The jounce bumpers were actually
designed to act as a spring assist, and are constructed from an
OEM-quality, micro-cellular material.

“ROUSH has always been known for being the best in powertrain
components, but we also have some of the most knowledgeable chassis
engineers in the auto industry on staff,” said Jack Roush. “I
continually challenge them to design suspension pieces that offer
tremendous performance enhancements yet don’t make sacrifices when it
comes to ride comfort. With the ROUSH Stage 3 Suspension Package they
have met this challenge, and even exceeded my expectations for what a
performance enthusiast would want on his Mustang.”

The Stage 3 Suspension Kit works with any type of wheel combinations,
but for optimum performance it is suggested that the ROUSH RR03 forged
wheels (part number 402422) and ROUSHcharger™ be utilized as well. The
suspension was specifically designed with the weight of these components
in mind.

I can honestly say I'm not happy with this. One of the reasons I chose the Stage 3 was because of the suspension. But now it appears I just spent too much money for the same thing I could just put on my car after market.

Gee thanks Roush Performance, thanks for taking that GIANT step to allow this technology to become available for the masses who DIDNT PAY AN EXCEPTIONAL AMOUNT OF MONEY, to have something you couldn't buy from the parts bin.

Oh and thanks for the nice square kick in the balls too.

I wonder if you'll just throw in the Stage 3 badges, engine plaques, seat covers to all your new customers just to show them how appreciative you are.

The suspension is one of the only reasons I went with the Stage 3. That is really bad form (just shows the loyalty goes one way). Disappointing and frustrating that some POS wannabe is going to have the same stuff I bought for its' exclusivity. Sadly, I was actually thinking about buying that new TVS.

Now I think it may be time to look at that new Nissan GT-R. Nah... I can't go ricer...but it still pisses me off.

As was I, thank you Roush Performance for making the decison for me. Instead of making additional parts purchases I think I am going to proceed with purchasing another......

Well I usually am the guy getting the maddest about this type stuff, and usually taking the BASHING as well. While I am not happy, and it really seems that there is nothing Roush won't do for a buck I don't have the Stage 3 Suspension on my car anyway.

I have felt for a while that I spent too much for the car, but at the time I didn't know a good shop and there weren't as many parts available. However, I still have had a good time with the car.

Ok. I'm confused.
What is the difference between the #401296, and the #401761?
If the 401296 give 1 G and the 4017617 give 1 G... What is the $300 difference?
Why wouldn't the adjustibility of the Ford M18000 C be a better choice?
And when is heavier better in a performance car?
I'm real confused.

The stage 3 suspension has front shocks tuned to the heavier front end of the supercharged cars. Oh yea and a pretty red paint job.

Seriously though, how long did you guys really think jack would hold out on selling the stage3 suspension kit? I mean with all the competition going on in the after market right now theres money to be made by those companies that prove they have the best product. Let's face it this kit is really designed for those who want to kick it up a notch with a car that they supercharged on their own. And trust me no matter how you feel about it the coveted Stage 3 badge will be on the market some day... from Roush! (sorry)

Only $33 difference on the Roush site between stage 2 and stage 3 suspension I have said all along the only difference was the red paint. Glad I saved a ton and bought a 427R

The difference between one Roush suspension and this one is in the tuning.

hmmm, so since you can buy this stuff now, and I have mine sitting in my garage maybe I should just sell it. if someone bought my car and wanted it they could always buy it then. hmmm. It just taking up space at this point, and the stuff is virtually new.

Another way to make cash when the economy is on the downhill slide I guess. Not too happy about it but my opinion doesn't matter...

ROUSH = SELLOUTS

is it really a surprise to anyone?? it is all about the almighy buck. ROUSH sales are slow right now, so they will bring anything to the market to try to help. remember last year when they put the GM and DODGE parts on their site, LOL!!! unfortunetly it was bound to happen sometime and nobody should be surprised by this.

the only thing really keeping me in the ROUSH world is this site, and the fact that they are fun cars. i think it is horrible the the way that ROUSH runs things, the prices that they expect, the pressure that they put on their dealers, and the fact that there is no such thing as a "special" car anymore. makes it pretty hard for a guy to stand behind them carrying their flag. just another day in

How about adding they quit making replacement parts that you need to keep your car running & looking like new....I find that very irritating & a disappointment in expectations.

Just another post showing how little people really knows about what goes on at Roush or why things are done they way they are.

So what they are selling the suspension. This is the last year for this model.

So who is going to be the first to SUE Roush for the fact that selling the S3 suspension now diminishes the value of their S3.
