JDM Roush Stage 5 Upgrade Package
For those enjoying the sweet nectar of the Stage 4 Upgrade but wanting more, and yet without the funds for the TVS2300 swap, JDM is unchaining the Stage 5 upgrade package.
Included in the Stage 5 Upgrade package is: OPTIONAL Kooks long tube headers OPTIONAL Kooks X pipe with or without catalytic converters Roush tensioner arm upgrade GT500 dual pump fuel system 12% lower crankshaft pulley JDM SCT custom retune ![]() DISCLAIMER: That is a Lightning AFCO H/E pictured, the only one I had on hand at the time. ![]() $2599.99 + shipping without exhaust $3899.99 + shipping without cats $3999.99 + shipping with cats For those without Stage 4 who want to go straight to Stage 5, just drop the word "upgrade" and your kit will consist of: 2.57 upper supercharger pulley JDM cold air intake kit Autolite HTO spark plugs gapped at .030" OPTIONAL Kooks long tube headers OPTIONAL Kooks X pipe with or without catalytic converters Roush tensioner arm upgrade GT500 dual pump fuel system 12% lower crankshaft pulley SCT XCAL2 tuner with one custom JDM tune $1799.99 + shipping without exhaust $3199.99 + shipping without cats $3299.99 + shipping with cats With this package we're looking to make 450whp on a stickshift car with a HUGE midrange torque figure that really makes it a fun fun fun street ride. Imagine cruising on the interstate and getting behind a truck and finding the left lane open. Bump it down into fourth at 3000rpm and have 400+ ft/lbs torque on tap immediately and holding that until 6000rpm...you're going to need a new chiropractor with this kit! Two things we're also attacking with this kit are preventative maintainence - that heat exchanger is going to help you maintain those high numbers even in the high-heat conditions of the street. And the belt tensioner is going to ensure you're getting every last psi you're supposed to be getting and not losing belts left and right. The new AFCO heat exchanger is a massive piece - the total core area is more than twice the size of the stock one and it holds more than four times as much fluid as the stocker. It's a dual pass design, which means the coolant gets circulated across the cooling fins twice before being returned to the intercooler in the intake manifold. It is actually intended for the GT500 but we provide the necessary cooling fittings to make it correctly fit the Roush cars. Some Frequently Asked Questions: Being that the M90 is such a small blower for a 281 cubic inch engine, is it really worth pulleying it harder and adding all these bolt ons, especially if I'm considering upgrading to the TVS2300? Yes, and no. You're realistically going to be maxxed out somewhere in the ballpark of 450rwhp with the M90 without doing heads/cams/etc (stock longblock), give or take a few for your elevation, tuner, weather, etc. So no, in an ideal world, we'd just TVS the car and put a built motor in it and shoot for the moon, but we all don't have $20,000 plus sitting around to toss at the car every weekend. What I really like about this kit is that everything included in it is not a waste - when you TVS the car down the road, if you do, everything here can be retained - the fuel system, the heat exchanger, the lower pulley, the headers will all really help that TVS. You're not wasting your money on anything (installing it now then removing it in the future). What HP am I looking at without the long tube headers? What HP gain am I looking at by deleting the catalytic converters? The Stage 5 kit does about 430 to the wheels on our dyno at JDM without the long tubes - it's a really significant gain that you can keep on the car no matter what modifications you do in the future. The 1 5/8" x 2 1/2" design will support up to 650whp on a supercharged application. Realistically, you'll pick up about 2-3whp from deleting the cats, which is not worth the risk of rasp in my opinion. The sound of these long tubes and cats with the Roush axlebacks is pure sex! If my car is bone stock now and I'm upgrading to the JDM Stage 4 Kit, is there anything else you suggest doing at the same time? If you're dealing with a 5R55S automatic transmission, it's always a good idea to go with a JDM automatic catch can ($159.99) as our tunes greatly increase the line pressure in the trans. With a stick car, it's not required, but you might want to keep the P51 clutch disk upgrade ($325) in the back of your mind for the future. With either transmission, a Roush P51 tensioner ($189) will definitely help with the issue of bending/breaking stock tensioners, and a set of CHE ICM brackets ($109) gets rid of 99% of the factory wheelhop. If you have any questions or would like install prices about anything I just mentioned, please don't hesitate to call. Is this SCT tuner and tune a 'canned' tune or a custom tune? What parameters in it can I change? Why does JDM use an XCAL2 versus an XCAL3? The tune is custom calibrated to your vehicle, that's why we ask all those questions for the tune sheet and why it takes the time it does to make one. These are not generic values copy and pasted off of SCT's site, these are changes to the factory PCM coding based on the modifications you made to your vehicle. The only parameters JDM leaves unlocked are gear ratio and tire size - additional parameters can be left unlocked for additional cost and at the signing of a liability waiver, however we advise you to trust Jim Sr. and let his more than 15 years of SCT tuning experience do the work for you. We stand behind the SCT software and the XCAL2 flash device rather than the highly-marketed LiveWire and XCAL3 units for many reasons, but chiefly because it works. It's a tried-and-true unit that can take a beating and keep on ticking and does not have all the reliability issues of the newer units. Many of the features of the newer units that the XCAL2 is advertised as not having are not even up and running yet, so what's the point? We're increasing the diameter of the lower crank pulley. Won't I need a longer belt? No. When installing the 12% overdrive lower, you remove the 90mm larger idler originally provided in the JDM Stage 4 package and the belt fits perfectly. What about my warranty? Will this void it? Technically speaking, any modification of any sort voids the warranty, but a lot depends on the specific circumstances and the dealership you use. I would not advocate driving into a hostile dealer with these parts on. But the beauty of the kit is that if you did have some sort of internal motor or transmission failure (and, for the record, you would be the first in that case), since everything is a bolt on affair, you can easily remove the modifications and remove the tune, making the vehicle appear factory with warranty intact. None of these modifications require you to cut or modify the exhaust, wiring, frame, etc. that would leave a permanent modification to the vehicle. How close are we to the limits of the stock motor/transmission? Am I going to blow the car up on this setup? This is a question that if I had a dollar for every time it was asked... Since 2005, everyone on the internet has their own 'professional' opinions on where the limits for the stock 3V, automatic, and manual 5spds are. At first, we were told it was about 450rwhp on both the motor and trans. And we started shattering that mark. Then 470 was the consensus. And we blew that out of the water. Then 480-490. And again. Then it became '500whp is a ticking time bomb.' And a couple dozen of our customers for over a year ran that, some as high as mid 530s, and that silenced that number. We've been 562whp on the stock motor and stock 5spd, and 620whp+ @ 9.85 on the stock automatic. And still not lost one. Not to sound conceited, but we and a few other companies out there are constantly proving the internet professionals wrong in their numbers guessing game. We have other shops buying our Stage 1 Saleen packages (425rwhp) and not buying the tune + tuner and saying they will do a tune and blowing the cars up when we have a couple thousand of those kits out there running like raped apes. We've just done so many of these 05+ supercharged cars that it comes down to experience. So we won't throw a number out there of this is what the stock (insert part here) can take, we'll just let our numbers do the talking and keep cranking the boost up. ![]() We won't sell you something we think will destroy your motor, when we start to get to the range where you start needing to think about a shortblock, we'll have that conversation with the customer. But provided your tune is good, your parts are in good order, and you don't abuse the car, you can make a ton of power on the stock parts. |

You can increase boost in a couple different ways, but the chief way is to change the blower drive ratio.
You can make the supercharger pulley smaller, like we do with the 2.57, or we can make the lower (motor, crankshaft) pulley larger. We're trying to make the same amount of spins of the motor equal more blower spins. |

The Afco H/E in the second picture is the one included in the Stage 5 Kit pricing. The one in the first was simply the only Afco unit I had on hand at the time I needed to get those pictures.

So how much is the Stage 4/5 combined with LT's and cats?
It was a little confusing up top. How hard is the install of the crank pulley? Everything else I'm pretty familiar with. Thanks !! I may be the second to place my order !!! |

fast...$3999.99 + shipping. The crank pulley might be the easiest install other than uploading the tune, just one bolt!
1BAD...$1649.99 + shipping (retune included). I would expect you no less than 450rwhp based on your conditions. |

$185 for the lowered mounts.
The money is all in what you're capable of. If you go Stage 4/5 now, the only parts you don't reuse can be sold with your supercharger (2.57 pulley, air intake kit). The plugs, lower pulley, full exhaust, fuel pumps, tuner, heat exchanger will all be retained for the TVS kit. |
