Need some suggestions please

Alright, I got my rinseless wash in the mail the other day and was able to get out and wash the Stag yesterday. I was impressed with how well the water beads off the car and getting the bird crap and dead bugs off was fairly easy. However, after I washed the car, I was able to see just how beat up the paint is. It's obvious the previous owner didn't wash the car every week and use protective products which is fine I suppose. However, it leaves me feeling unfinished and it's not good enough!

So, the two major problems are small nicks and scratches and water spots. I've included three pictures below highlighting these problems. I noticed the water spots right away and they still remain after going over the car with the rinseless wash. I've read about clay bars and waxes and all that jazz, but I'm not familiar with them enough to know the correct product to use. Here are the pictures so you can judge the damage for yourself.

Water Spots:

Scratches Etc - Two pictures of the same nick, first one is far, second is a close up.

I circled the scratches in case you're an idiot. Hehe, just kidding.

Thank you for the help!

I would recommend claybarring the whole vehicle first. This will take out all of the embeded contaminants and leave the paint feeling silky smooth. Next you want to use a polish to bring out more shine and reflection, take out light scratches and swirls, and to prep the paint for your wax or sealant. The polish should also take out your waterspots. I would go with my Light Polish for this. Then just top with a wax, my Wet Wax or Wet Obsession would look awesome on that color blue. The Wet Obsession is my high end carnauba wax, you will get the best looks with it.

For the nicks, you should go to your local Ford dealership and get some factory touch up paint. You want to do thin multiple layers to get it to come out the best.

You can only do so much paint correction by hand, a machine polisher is really required to get your paint looking its best.

On the touch up paint, shake it for at least 10 minutes otherwise it won't match as good as it can. I bought some for the 2001 F150 and I apparently didn't shake it long enough because it didn't match. They shook it for 10-15 minutes at the dealership and it was much better.

+1 on the porter cable. I just bought a used Roush that had sat on the lot for too long. Lots of baked on water spots. I clayed the car, then I used scratch-x by hand. Then today, I used the PC to polish it. Talk about a huge difference. I still have a few spots that need some extra love, but the doors look like a black mirror.

It was a good days work.
