    New Meguiars M105 & M205 in stock

We now have the new Meguiars M105 Ultra Cut Compound and the M205 Ultra Finish Polish in stock and ready to ship.

The M105 cuts through scratches and swirls quicker than any polish I have used now and finishes off really nice for a compound. M205 is an awesome finishing polish. This combo produces some excellent results.

I've been testing these products for a while now and have seen how popular they have become, so I decided that I have to carry them.

    Check them out here...... Meguiar's

Yes, these products are too be used before putting on your wax. M205 would be great before Wet Obsession as well as my OD Light Polish or Optimum Finish Polish.

Update: I now have Meguiars Hyper Dressing and All Purpose Cleaner now in stock. These are probably the 2 most popular products out of their Detailers Line.

Ordered the M205 from Justin the other day....gonna go over the car with it, prior to the first good waxing of the year. I've been dinking around with the car in the shop for the last week or so and it's really picked my spirits up...kinda had the old winter blues I guess. Anyway, can't wait for the M205 to get here and get busy on the car again!

Your order shipped out yesterday through USPS Priority, you should be seeing it tomorrow, I'm actually suprised you didn't get it today since you are so close.

Will do! Yep, hope it shows up tomorrow, though it sounds like I might be shoveling snow the next couple of days instead of polishing the Mustang! Forecast is not so rosy for tomorrow thru Saturday. I think you might be in for it as well Justin.

The weather has been killing me here with detailing lately, this is the slowest I've been in a long time.

    Justin,

No photos yet, as I only got a few minutes this afternoon, to start using the Meguiar's 205. And as I'm using a DA polisher for the first time, the whole thing was a bit of a learning experience. But, where's what I found out from the limited time I had this afternoon.

The 205 works really well! It took off some water spots, that I had played havoc with, trying to get off by hand. I started on the hood ( large, relatively flat area to get a feel for the polisher on ) and then worked on the front bumper just a bit. I could REALLY tell a big difference on the front bumper. I suppose that being up front, the bummper usually gets the worst of what the road has to throw at the car. The 205 comes off easily too....just like taking an easy wax off of the car...and buffs out easily and nicely. I think the 205 is going to be just the thing for me, prior to a good wax job!

A couple of questions about using a DA polisher. The one I have is a Meguiar's G110...it has a speed control numbered 1 - 5. I was running it on 2, but thought I'd ask if you had any idea if I was in the right speed range or not. I know that you don't want to run it too fast. Also, when I started out with the polishing, I was using just a moderate pressure on the polisher and then went back over the area with just the light weight of the polisher itself,as a finishing pass....does this sound right? Also, how often should the foam pads be cleaned? Can they sit overnight and then be used the next day, or should they be cleaned immediately after each use?

I'm thinking when I'm done, that I might try using the polisher to apply my wax. I'm assuming that in that case, you would just use the weight of the polisher itself and not use much pressure at all?

Thanks for recommending a great product and any help with my rookie questions!

    Dave

I'm glad you are happy with the M205, it is a great product.

Whenever I polish a vehicle with an orbital buffer I bump the speed up to the highest settings, you are going to get the best correction at higher speeds. So use it at speeds 4-5 to polish out scratches and swirls. You want to put about 15-20 lbs. of pressure when polishing as well. Once you have taken out the scratches and swirls you can ease up on the pressure and just refine the finish.

I wouldn't let the pads sit overnight without being cleaned. Actually, on most vehicles I go through quite a few pads. Once the pad starts getting gummed up with polish you can take a brush and clean the pad. Most of the time after I get too much buildup I just get another pad. To clean the pads you can do them by hand with Dawn dish soap or in the washing machine. If you are doing them by hand put them in the sink with warm water and scrub the pads, you want to run water through the pad and keep squeezing it until the water comes out clear. If you put them in the washing machine just use normal detergent and no fabric softner at all. The pads are going to last longer cleaning them by hand. I don't ever have time to wash them by hand so I throw them in the machine, most of my pads still last a couple years under heavy use.

When you use the polisher to apply your wax you don't need to use any pressure and keep the speeds low, the same thing goes if you are applying a glaze.

    Thanks Justin!

Just the kind of great info I needed. I did clean the pad I used this afternoon, with warm water. I didn't use it very long, so it cleaned up right away. Sure wish I could get a whole day to spend on the car, instead of my hit and miss schedule, but I'll get the whole thing done eventually....and at this rate, long before spring gets here and I even THINK about getting it outside! More snow on the way this weekend.
