It is obvious the car is better than the driver but I sure had fun. Thanks to the Roush guys for building such a fun drive to the track-have fun-drive home car!
Look forward to driving VIR on mermorial day weekend...Going to be a blast...ROUSH in the house

http://www.svtek.com/Products.html this is a buddy of mine. I've used Vesa's mounts for years. The esses REALLY make you be smooth. Roadracing there, most laps, we don't lift till the top of the hill left hander. It feels so good with the car drifting up the hill. My SCCA roadrace instructor was a TransAM driver and multi time SCCA National Champ, John Baucom. Saw him win 2 championships in 2 classes in the same car, just by changing engines in the RunOffs at Road Atlanta. Anyway, John said don't lift at the bottom of the hill going into 17. If you have done it right, the car bottoms just as you bear right and sticks. Had to chase him through once to see he was right. Turn 4, there is a lamppost in the paddock area by tech. John said aim for it hard on the gas from 2, brake hard, and turn in late at 4. That worked well, too.
A couple of years ago, I was chasing a Spec Ford down the back straight, setting him up for a pass under braking going into roller coaster. Made the pass, but 2 other cars got by me on the inside. That's 3 wide. You can carry a lot more speed through there than you think. The corner looks like a 90 degree left going in, but it really is no where close to 90.

    Thanks Dave,

I dont think there is a chance i will ever go through the esses without lifting. I let the car settle before entry and try to maintain a small amount of throttle to keep the car balanced. My fear of losing her and lack of slicks keep me cautious through there. I will be trying some better tires this time at VIR and am anxious to see how they feel. Still waaay more car than driver!

LOL Should have put a disclaimer in there. DONT TRY THIS AT HOME!
Passing in corners is frowned on big time at Track Days.
I was racing experienced drivers with basically the same level of skill.... Not that I have the skill to dare a 3 wide pass... usually. ;^) Just mentioned to show what can be done.
I wiggle my fingers to loosen my grip at about the crossover and then pucker at the bottom going in every time I do it, but watching the pro guys slide up the hill, I knew it was possible.
Still, you have to hit it perfect not to go off. That tire wall driver's right taking a beating about every race weekend.
Watching the Porsche, you couldn't do it, but had a guy in an E Prod Nissan running down center track going into turn 1 trying to make me go around outside, but STILL out braked him and passed on the inside. You hug the inside and try not to track out too much at 2, so he doesn't get a jump on you and cut under to repass.
Track days are for fun. We race for..... well, a plank of wood and a sticker. LOL It's ALL fun!
