    Pocono July 14th and 15th

Well, it was a fun day. Any day at the track is better than a day not at the track!

Usually I just run with the advanced guys and I do OK. There were so few advanced guys at the track that they moved the few of us up a level. I was running with the instructors and guys with dedicated track cars running slicks. My top speed was 140. 140 did not feel fast. There were guys whizzing by me at 160 and 170. The scariest thing was going three wide in NASCAR turn one ... in the rain!

3.73's will take me to 140MPH at 6,100 RPM in fourth. The rev limiter is set at 6,500. I did not have the balls to keep my car near the red line for almost two miles of straights (the bank curves are almost like driving on a straight) 5th gear is not an option. Everyone has opinions about 5th. I tried it once. But there is such a big difference between 4th and 5th that the engine bogs down. Maybe that is why the blown Mustangs get detonation in 5th. Funny thing, right after I tried 5th (for maybe 10 seconds) my engine light went on. I was like Oh fudge . Well i pitted and plugged in my SCT and read the code. PO153. (I think it stands for Pissed Off 153%) Well it is the O2 sensor code. My O2 sensors are brand new but with the Kooks LT's and high flow cats they are to far away from the engine. So I reset it and got back out there.

My last session of the day consisted of one lap. A supercharge Z06 exploded. I was doing 135 on the back straight and a Z06 passed me like I was standing still. And then his engine grenaded! right in front of me. It was the worst clean up the track officials from my organization have ever seen. He was up against the wall after completed his pass of me and one other car when it happened. There were literally hundreds of pieces of engine all over the track. Most were the size of silver dollars. And because he was on the high banked turn all the engine fluids flowed down the track. We were forced to stop on the track and wait for the fire and clean up crews to finish. I choose to pit after because I did not feel like driving thru speedy dry on a wet track.

Here is how the Z06 got home.

    Sky looked a little scary!

This is a race car made to look like a Camaro

It does not look like your friends SS inside.

A nasty looking and sounding beast! Good thing he was in the beginner group or I would have given him a driving lesson!

This 135 is amazing. It is driven by a friend of mine for CT. He bought it as a DD last year and turned it into a full blown race car. He finshed 2nd in GTS3.

Can your car lift itself up like this?

The explosion was ... well kinda cool. Sucked for him and the rest of us because we had to wait so damn long and lost a session. Because of the off and on rain through out the day we were not able to make it up. One bad thing about GoPros, sometimes when the battery dies while filming it corrupts the video that was being filmed. Unfortunately I have no video of the explosion. I will check the car in front of me and see if he caught it and get back to you.

I did a stupid thing with my GoPros. The one on my roll bar I had set from right side up and it was upside down. The one on my trunk I had set for upside down and it was right side up!!! Ugh. I can fix it with software but it will take some time. To watch the videos at home I just turned my monitor upside down. It is on a swivel base to do that.

Here is a quick video from the trunk. The track was wet and it started to drizzle and I had my top down. I hate the rain and any moisture on the track.
