94/95 Roush Intake

I'm new to the group and found it after a search for a "heat extractor hood" brought up Smoke's page. Kevin, your car looks awesome, I have sent you a PM asking about your hood so when you get chance please get back to me.

Anyway I have ordered the Roush intake for 94/95 mustangs, Roush no longer carry the cowl hoods they once supplied as part of the kit so I am trying to find a suitable hood. As mentioned above I like the idea of having heat extraction as well as my car sees a lot of open track events. What i don't like are huge cowls, 2" is more than enough.

Do any of you have photos of your set ups with the Roush hoods or aftermarket options that you could reply with or email to me?

Thanks for the help.

Richard.

you could go with the Saleen E hood...... good for heat extraction and a lil extra room under the hood.

Since his car is a '95 he can't really put on an s-281E hood. Go to: http://www.saleen.com/store2000/set1.asp
or
http://speedworx.com/cgi-local/shop.pl/page=main.htm

I'm pretty sure they both sell the Saleen heat extractor hood, but it is pretty pricey

I really like this hood, too bad it would never fit with the new engine

Cool

BLKGT
Thanks for the kinds words. You too, Kev!!!!
Keep this up and I'll blush.

Sorry I haven't been up much and haven't gotten back to you on the hood question.

Ok the 94/95 Intake is a lil' taller but the heat Extractor hood should have no problems clearing it.

Now about the ROUSH hood they used with the Intake, you can fab a similar set up out of the heat extractor hood or a 96-98 cobra hood. Need to find someone with some signifcant skill and your highest trust rating. The key ... check the brochure, is the venting towards the back of the hood. Link .. look at the insert vents in the back

As for mine, I ordered mine from www.cal-mustang.com under Saleen Autosports. Pricey but, cool looking and great for your application at track events.

Good luck and hurry up with those pics.

And welcome to the site.

Thanks for all your replys everyone.

I do like that Saleen hood shame about the price!

I'll get some photos out when I can organize some nice ones. My car is nothing special, it gets driven hard on the track and so I've compromised some of the nice things for function.

Smoke, what is the cowl area of the Saleen hood like? Is it just a flat piece of fiberglass that can be cut to make vents? Also what is the underside of the hood like?

Thanks again everyone.

Yes. It is flat and can be cut but the thicknes isn't the greatest. Shame you're not nearby so you could see. but it could be done with the right tools and skill.

Also what is the underside of the hood like
no apron, so visualize the under hood with the vents --- I'll post some pics.
