95 3-piece intake info, anything please.
Looking for any info, facts, links and dyno sheets on the 94-95 style 3-piece Roush cowl induction systems. These things are works of engineering art. I picked some up but want to know their history, not much info floating around. Anyone know who made the hood or where one may be found?
I am thinking about putting my keeper on a 393/408 stroker (yes, I know the lower is wider on the 351, spacers!). Anyone seen this done? Thanks, John |

Well this is all the info I know about it. It was made for 94-95 5.0 Engines. It normally came with a mass air flow system, but it doesnt need that to run. The Hood was made by Roush which is now discontinued. I talked to Dale about this and it seems that a few parts for the intake are discontinued, so you would have to custom make them. If you want to buy one, they have em on Ebay, ive seen a couple a week atleast. Let me know if you want any other info on it.

Yup, I got 5 of the complete kits, just looking for more tech info.
They come with a BBK 65mm TB but no MAF in the setup, you use your factory one. You would have to run MAF unless you convert to speed density or DFI which I believe is basically speed density. You can run them with a blower, turbo or on Fox cars, just requires a little mods.I just found a 1998 Superford article when they were trying to sell them to the 93 and blower crowd. I'm interested in any mag articles also. Someone just sent me the Roush brochure but not much info at all in there. My guess is the mag articles would be in the 96 thru 98 time period. All of my lower intakes were cast in mid June of 96. Thanks, John

Kits are all gone at Roush. Someone made a call earlier this year and posted it few months ago that they got one at excellent price. I called a couple of months ago and got close to the last ones. Not over 10 left, after mine. They were just clearing the shelves of pieces parts to make the kits up so they haven't had any in over a month or two. But they've been getting enough calls about them to where they probably don't even want to hear about them anymore.
Yup, they sold for 2k new, 3k with the hood (1997 Car and Driver article I have). I do not think they were meant to be sold as a kit but were to be used on a special 96 plus Roush tuner. When Ford announced the 4.6L's in 96 they got caught with their pants down, as did some other tuner's I have talked to. So they couldn't sell the kits at 2k or 3k, that's blower territory with less actual HP. To find any now you'll just have to search the market and Ebay, watch out though. I have two left but am keeping them for now, one is going on a 408 stroker I'm putting together. I'm either gonna section it for the 351 width or use a spacer kit, haven't decided. Currently measuring volumes, runner lengths and cross sections to give to my cam grinder so he can figurer out what it's best for. Per a Super Ford article in 1998 it is meant to run in the 3750-6500 range on a 302 and has no problem handling the airflow for a 347 stroker. More info out there or anyone have 95-98 Mustang mags to check for articles? My collection starts around 98. Thanks, John

Yup, the two I have left have never been used. One will be by next year hopefully. I don't know how many were on the shelf. Earlier this year some people got complete boxed kits. I got the same thing, just built with parts they just had laying in inventory, same as a lot of other people. I also got the 24 inj and J4J1 computer also, but not the crank underdrive pulley (well, in 2 kits I sold) or the fan belt that would be used with the pulley. Basically everything there. I had the first one on Ebay recently and then some nut stole my pics and started his own auctions everywhere so I said the hell with it for awhile due to the trouble he caused with my buyer. The guy had 17 negative feedbacks. pukid1234, then m3chen, he's now going by blown302 or something after I had 5 different auctions of his shut down by Ebay. Don't know total production, heard from 100 on up, but not many. just try to find info on them on the net, not much luck, for me at least. That's why I'm trying to find info here.
No, I nor no one else I know of got any hoods. Their probably long gone. I have a post in classifieds looking for one for one of my buyers. I don't particularly car about it, a Cobra R will work as will other hoods with some rise. I read the Roush just had 3/4" of rise. It basically looks like a stock hood. Hmmm, I thought I saw Toronto on your sig. We made it up there this year right before the garbage strike and Gay parade. My wife's sister immigrated last year. Had fun, can't wait to get back, heard it snowed a day or two ago. Thanks, John

I'm probably going to part with one more, that will leave me with one. I was wanting to show my Uncle one. He is an old Ford guy and I was wondering what he thought about it. I was also wondering about the 32-34 Ford market, which he used to really be in to. Those guys usually have some bucks. But if it's just a difference of $100 or so I'd just sell it to a Stanger who need's it.
We can discuss off forum if you want to. I sell the intake and support parts seperate from the 24 inj and Cobra computer. Have 2 sets of new inj. and 1 puter still. I haven't really pushed them. I had one nut on Ebay giving me a fit and just said piss on it for awhile. I think my email address works on this board. I usually hang out on the corral.net. Also search Roush intake over there for some interesting info. I'm 95KBconv over there. Do you have any leads on dyno tests or mag articles on the thing? Thanks, John

Just saw you weren't sure of contents. Well, it's a ton of stuff. I can send you a pic later. Intake, fuel rails (special), gaskets, couple of adapter plates, 65mm TB (93 style with a slightly different bellcrank).
What happened with most of use who got the last ones is we didn't get the lower crank pulley (I have P/N), the fanbelt (only needed with the pulley I guess), a tiny stud/screw for the TB bellcrank (luckily I got only 1, so I have a pattern), no hood of course (my guess is that will be a bitch to find at anywhere near a reasonable price), and maybe one other little thing. Nothing major, at least in my kits. I did get 2 lower crank pulleys but sold them with first 2 sales. DUH. Actually, when I opened my last 3 kit they didn't have them, but Roush said I wouldn't get one anyway, so.... I don't have any idea if Canadian would try to charge ridiculus duties or what. I would try to help if you were to purchase but you would be responsible for figuring out or paying any of that stuff. I hope to drive up again this spring FWIW. John
