Squeaking noise when I turn the steering wheel...

It only makes a squeaking noise when I turn the wheel to the left. It's a pretty loud noise. It's obvious that It's coming from the front left wheel/suspension area. However, I don't know what to look for to assess the problem like checking the bushing, which I've been told might be the problem. Any kind of help/suggestion would be appreciated. Hopefully it's something I can fix myself. Thanks

DUDE~ I just recently had the same freaking annoying problem. The sound is horrible and sounds like something is rubbing metal to metal. This went on for about 2 wks and now it's not making that sound for me any more, but I have no idea what it is,and I tried not to worry too much because I'm going to be replacing my entire suspension in 2 months..Yeah I would too like to know what this noise is if anyone on the boardz has any clue.

Is it when you are turning the wheel or after you have it completely turned. Could be something in the power steering mechanism as well, I would imagine. Otherwise, I would say tie-rod end or bushing. Speaking of which my car was making some real f**ed up noise similar to that while I was driving yesterday (out of the blue) and then it just stopped. Weird stuff.

The noise starts as soon as I start turning the wheel to the left. For example: The steering wheel is turned all the way to the right, as soon as i start turning it to the left, the creaking noise starts and continues as I turn the wheel all the way to the left. In the reverse case, if the wheel is turned all the way to the left, there is no squeaking noise as I start and continue to turn it all the way to the right. Hope this explaination helps in some way.

Yep..same here..Try this too..when your car is parked...wheels straight, or not turned..push down on the hood in the corner by the headlight on the left side there enought to make the shocks move..I'll bet it makes that god aweful noise then too..Mine did...

I tried pushing down like you said but it doesn't make any noise, the whole car just bounces without any noises. Would that still make it a power steering issue?

I'm not a mechanic either but I was suggest most likely the tie-rod end. Per Ford, the Mustang tie-rod end bushing(a pre-greased closed seal) is known to wear out pretty quickly. A new tie-rod end I think is somewhere around $50, you can always try it and see if it helps. Mine did that same thing for a while and it ended up being something in the suspension. Try having someone sit inside the car (drivers side) when you push up and down instead of pushing up and down with the seats empty. Does it make a noise? If so I'd say springs or something stupid like that.
