Alcon brake setup...

So after four months or more of having the brake kit sitting in boxes in the garage I decided to just have them installed. The local race shop is doing the work and all was going well till....

Well if you remember back when I first got the brake kit from the Roush/roea deal I was sent the wrong brake line and a severely scartched caliper. Well Roush made good on those and sent me a new caliper and the proper brake line. And apology for the miserable packaging they used for shipping.

Well the front install went without a problem this time. All the proper parts ~yippeee. But alas the rear setup is missing some special bolts for the caliper bracket extension dealy. So the car is gonna have to stay over night up on a lift and "hopefully" the proper bolts can be located tomorrow to finish the damn install off. The whole thing has been a huge headache but hopefully it will be completed early tomorrow morning and if it doesnt all fall off I am sure it will be well worth the 1800 bucks..sigh

And while inspecting I discovered a rubber bushing on the front strut/tie rod? that has about one third of it chunked out. So I guess I will be going in for some warranty work soon too. Tomorrow I will spend a bit more time checking all the suspension works for further wear/damage. And of course I discovered a large crack in the chrome on one the rims, but it is on the inside and is just the chrome.... Ok done pinning over the whole thing. Time for some beer drinking

The bolts you are wanting has a round head with an AllenHead insert to tighten it. And I do believe the lower bolt is shorter than the upper

Should know first thing in the morning and just hoping it works out and I never regret the purchase again Thanks guys for the continued help with this. Mods never come easy for me and this is reason #1 why I dont mess with projects like this...Cant wait to see what dilemas arise when the s/c is funded and purchased

D make sure they put locktite on the bolt threads and that they shimmed the fronts for proper clearance.
I just did mine two weeks ago and don't forget to bed the pads before any spirtited driving.

NEED ADVICE on the ebrake cable adjustment. Not able to get enough slack to hook it up. I know this was discussed before but cant find the info. The dude really would like some pics of the rear setup, any help would be cool. PM me a phone number if you have some advice so I can call ya, D......

Thanks sonic D !!! The answer you provided was perfect, undo the ebrake brake brakett on the rear. You are on my xmas list too !!. Front passenger side is going to take one shim by the looks of it. Sure wish the guy would let me hang out but I got the same ole line about workers comp and all that...

anyone have the official "bedding" process. I have found a couple different statements and since there wasnt so much as a piece of paper in the kit let alone instructions, I thought I would ask hopefully the last question. I figure 10-20 moderate stops from maybe 20-30 mph and then some harder stops from 50 and so on...The official bedding procedure would be cool too know though. Thanks again, D

D there should have been a Roush postcard size procedure in your box. However do about 6 ..20-0mph stops then 6-10 50 to 0 stops let them cool in between , then normal driving for 250 miles before any aggressive braking unless absolute must.

Make sure they take off the old rear mounting bracket this will also give more room for the e-brake cable.

The only literature that was included in the two boxes was an invoice. Still waiting on the guy to call and we are going to do the first drive together so that I can get them bedded properly. Thanks again guys. D

D post card pic is in this thread:

Alcons

When I did my rear brakes I disengaged ebrake - I couldnt get it back on - the guys at the shop had a PITA getting it back on. When they put on the alcons, they did not disengage the ebrake line.

Anyway - good luck.

alright the brakes are on. Man do the put some stop into the ride. I do have a concern with hard breaking though when I bedded them. It really kinda bumps (grunts) funny on the passenger side front. Could this be the abs kicking in? I am going to drive it gently for a couple days and then take it back in just to bleed it once more. Think I will have kev give it a whirl tomorrow and see what he thinks. Otherwise, damn they look sweet and work great ~ nose to the windshield stops. No pulling or vibrations at all unless its a real hard stop, then its just that bumb sensation in the pedal. Thanks again for all the advice and support. Any input on the grunt bump sensation would be cool too.

Nice work D!

Now could you get a couple more from each angle and some of the passenger side. Oh and maybe a further away shot.
