Short Throw shifter

Just curious if anyone else has a slight rattle from their shifter.Mostly at high RPM on the hiway. If I keep my hand on it ,the sound is dampened. No big deal, but I wonder if anyone else has noticed.Other than that it works flawlessly. The sound goes away when I crank up the radio.I made sure the knob is on tight...

Mine did the same thing. The set screw wasn't as tight as I thought. Some blue Loctite fixed it.

My car is a 2006.I am afraid that at the time I ordered it I was unaware of the chage in the product. This shifter is probably the older style. It doesn't change in hieght over the stock 06 shifter and it didn't come with a shift knob.Installed you can't notice the difference from the stock one...until you rip through the gears.

You are not alone. I have an 07 Stage 2 with the same problem at certain rpms. I have checked a few threads and different forums and many have the same problems with no solution. "Nature of the beast."

Keep the windows down or the radio up!

I hate to give the answer to my own post however ,I recently discovered there is a TSB(06 04 01).Centre stack vibration...
The fix is very easy. The hangers near the tranny could be loose and the rubber is not efficiently absorbing the vibrations from the exhaust system.
The fix is to put a worm gear clamp around the rubber hanger to pick up the slack. For $0.98 it's not worth going to the dealership.Your welcome...

When I proffesionally installed my shifter myself. Comparing the old and the new the roush rubbers were much harder then the stock ones. that's what makes it much better to shift as it takes the the slack out so when really shifting hard the there is no compressing of the rubbers making for a more acurate shift. Solution: Take off the boot cut out a circular piece of dense foam about 2" thick wide a enough width to touch the sides of the tunnel and put it over the shifter and reinstall the boot and presto no noise

Yeah I just got mine....it really seems to do it in 3rd at high rpms on deceleration...it really sounds more plastic than metal to me so my thought is that it might be an exemplification of the TSB that xzo6 mentioned...however, they probably wont do fix it for you....so probably use his solution (xzo6, did you actually do this yet???)

tooltime...your solution doesn't make sense to me (i'm just not picturing it)....I know you are an ace with the camera....so maybe a pic or two????

Also, I get a whistling w/ my shifer....now I am 99% certain that it is simply the inner boot not sealing around the shifter arm....so I'm thinking a ring of silicon sealer around the arm at the top of the boot will fix this...any thoughts on that....

Other than these 2 idiosincrasies(sp?) I am in love with this thing...it just rocks....

You can also try one of my shifter gaskets. They really work very well. They're designed to reduce the noise (from transmission) that is transmitted through the (billet) shifter. I am constantly getting feedback that a good percentage of shifter noise was eliminated with the gasket. A few members here have tried it and were pleased. Works well with the stock shifter, too. And no messy silicone sealer to deal with. Here's the link if you're interested. You can also read more about the gasket set. Cheap, too. $5.00 for the T-56 and $6.00 for the TR-3650/T-5/T-45. Shipping is free.

I am a licensed mechanic and all the older trucks had the foam sitting on top of the shifter tower under the floor plate you remover when removing trasmiision. If you left the foam out the noise was really bad then. The foam absorbs the vibrations which is what your are hearing now

No I got used to the vibration...
& I haven't been to the Dealer for a real long time.I may do something about
it someday...as long as it isn't something serious.
