Rusty front pulley

I was looking at my engine compartment last night and I noticed that the larger center pulley in the front of my motor directly in front of the radiator is rusty. Is this common on the Roush motors? This car is less than a month old. Should I complain or is this common? If it is common is there anyway to get rid of it easily?

I think you're going to find it's common with Ford in general, probably not Roush specific. I remember seeing pictures of new cars on lots with rusty parts under the hood...doesn't seem like good self advertising to me, but hey who knows

Yep, common to all the 4.6 that I've seen. If not all motors.

If you don't like seeing that, don't look at the rear suspension after a while! The diff and other parts will show surface rust too. I plan on painting all of mine when I do my suspension upgrades this spring.

Was not impressed with the underneath of the Mustangs. Wonder what brainchild at Ford decided that the underneath of the car and the pulleys, etc under the hood no longer need to be painted. Hope they fired him.................

Painting that pulley has been on my "to do" list for about 3 years now. It really sucks at car shows when some know it all says ... "would you look at that !"
