Hesitation

Here's one I havn't heard before. I have a hesitation when I accelerate from a stop or moving. I brought it to the dealer to have them look at it. They had it for three days. They called me to come pick up my truck. Thay said it was normal. They told me they called Roush Tech and they told them that they (Roush) " put a buffer in the computer system to protect the transmission". Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. What do you guys think. What should I do next

Actually there are a couple threads on this common issue with the supercharged trucks. You just have to search them out.

Common issue I used the search box with a few different words but couldn't find anything matching the problem I am having. I had no hesitation problems at all with my Lightning. I came up with quite a few issues with manual trans Mustangs but nothing on auto trans trucks. I'm still new at this so perhaps I'm not using the search correctly. If anybody else has heard of this, chime in and let me know, thanks

I Had the same situation with my vehicle, a custom tune from Troyer Performance remedied the problem

I think that will void the warr. . So I guess I will have to give the dealer another shot. They said if it got worse they would send the PCM back to Roush. Hmmm I think it's getting worse

Custom tune will void the warranty, would not do until it has expired if i were you.

I had the same problem....I bought mine used and had the same problem. Roush dealer told me the engine was bad as a plug was broken. Said it was the SC fault and Roush said it wasn't. Long story short, took it to a non-Roush dealer and they fixed it. the previous owner had ran non-premium through it, DO NOT DO THIS. The tune is set off premium octane, so the PCM basically got confused and went into safe mode. Run the tank through it, refill with premium, run that through and then send the PCM back to Roush for a re-program. Don't abuse the engine during this or you will foul a plug, the plug gets too warm and the heat busts the ceramic. Also, don't be surprised if your check engine light comes on. It takes bout 3-4 days to get it all done as long as they overnight the PCM, Roush will from their end.

Frustrating as hell I know, lucky you I have been there already.

Thanks for the info . The dearler filled the tank before I picked it up. They probably filled it with cheap stuff . I'll be sure to only use premium . If this doesn't work I'll bring it back to the dealer and have Roush recal the PCM. Thanks again

It won't fix itself....if you are having the hesitiation, it's too late. You can probably figure every mile that is on the truck has been with regular pump gas. Would highly recommend you send it back in, but your call.

Just great. I was TOLD to use the cheap stuff( "That is what the car was programmed for as stated in the manual"). I have the same issue and will have to take it back to the dealer. Oh well, after the lawsuit is over....

Which manual? Everything I have ever seen and heard indicates high octane. Call up the folks at Roush, maybe wasting your money with the lawsuit. You are going up against very deep pockets.....

WOW, Who told you that, the dealer or Roush? Mine even states " USE PREMIUM UNLEADED FUEL ONLY" under the fuel fill door. Also on page 3 of the Roush owner's guide supplement there is a section under Engine Fuel that states " As your Stage 3 F-150 is a high-performanve vehicle, it requires the use of premium fuel of at least 91 octane (R+M/2)." Is yours a F-150 Stage 3? Hope things work out for you

the problem is with the Roush tune. i own a 2006 stage 3 and yes i got it retuned. the ending rear wheel HP was 367 and the torque was 425. The hesitation that was there for you was there for me and was not fixed until the tune was done.

Been talking to the Frod Dealer and Roush Perf. If the dealer can't fix the problem then they will send PCM back to Roush for recal. Not really what I wanted to hear . Probably means another couple of weeks at the dealership waiting for the PCM to be sent out and returned . I just hope this fixes the problem, it's very annoying

Again it will be the tune..Get a programmer and a good tune done by someone whos knows the truck and if it needs to be serviced just plug your tuner in and put it back to stock..I promise you the tune will improve your performance and your gas mileage. Troyer Performance and Unleashed Tuning have websites. Mine was done at Unleashed Tuning and he can sell you the programmer and a tune without even taking your truck to him since he has the tune for the Roush Stage 3 trucks now..

Im not so sure this is a Roush problem. Its with all 04+ F150's. My dad has an 04 5.4 and I went on F150Online and posted a thread asking about it. The answers I got were related to ECU from Ford. All you had to do was go into Ford and complain and they would reflash the computer. From a stop I would floor his truck and no joke it would take about 1 or 2 seconds for the motor to actually get moving. It was rediculous. I just hope he never is in a situation where he needs the power asap and the hesitation kills him.
