Computer locked out.

As many of us know, Roush locks up the ECM after the tune. I took my car in once a few weeks ago for a check engine light. Roush NEVER called the dealership back to allow them access to check the code. When I got the car back the code was off, due to them unplugging the ECM. The code came on again, and I just unplugged the ECM and reset it. It is now on again and the dealership said if I take it in I have to sign to pay because Roush has been refusing to pay on some items.

All I want to know is what the light code is.

This may be enough for me to just to buy the BBR pulley and forget all about the Roush tune. I don't want to take the car in and have the dealership mess around with the car and just have it sitting there.

I will be calling Roush tomorrow to see if I can get something from them before I take the car in.

Man, I'm sorry. Why should you have to pay for anything? Isn't the car still under warranty? Sounds kinda fishy to me.

I lept getting a engine light. Six times as a matter of fact. Dealer could not read the code with their high dollar Ford equipment because the Roush program is locked. Had to read it with a cheapy $59 code reader from Advance Auto. My light was for A and B coil packs. Dealer claims it was in the program and Roush did not advise me either way when the retuned the PCM Tuesday for the pulley upgrade.

Roush does not lock their PCM flash.
They never have.
On some (not many) of the older cars (01-03) Roush did physically cut off the "J3" connector on the back of the PCM so that an aftermarket chip programmer could not read the program or plug in a changed chip.

The issue you are facing with the dealer reading the codes is due to lack of dealer training.

When the tool is plugged into a Roush PCM, the tool will say "this PCM is unique" or something really similar to that. On the same screen it has a line that says "enter unique identifier". This is a standard Ford function that is part of Ford's program.
The tech needs to select that and then enter an identifier. There are 3 but only one is needed. All 3 are written on the Ford label on the PCM. All 3 are Ford's identifiers, not Roush's.
After one is entered, the tool will ask if the car (i.e. 2006 Mustang 4.6 MT) is correct. If it is the tech clicks yes and everything works the same as any other car from that point on.

None of this means the PCM is locked.
It isn't.

Ya, really sounds like Roush and Ford need to train some.

I called Roush today and was forwarded to a guy that really knew his stuff. I think his name was Tom Cook, I have it written down at work. I still can't believe he actually called back from a message. This guy deserves a raise from Roush because he was the first guy I talked to that knew what was up.

He said pretty much what Prometec said but in a little more detail. Now I just have to get the dealership, Friendly Ford, to figure it out.

The guy from Roush was Tom Miller, not Tom Cook.

Your First mistake is you took it to the idiots at Friendly Ford. Team Ford has a guy that specializes in Roush. I take mine there and never have a issue. They know there stuff. They been selling Roush's sence they were born.
