Battery Light on

Why would my battery light be on???!! I have barely had my 427R for six months!! What I am saying is that my car isn't old enough to have a crappy battery or worn out parts!!!

There's always the chance of having a faulty battery. Perhaps the alternator is not functioning properly, that's another possibility. Just have the dealer take a look at it.

That's where she's going first thing in the morning. I hope it's just the battery and not something that'll leave me without my car. Don't like leaving her out by herself

I lost the Ford battery in my new Bronco at 13 months...just one month AFTER the replacement warranty ran out...they kindly offered to sell me the same one for well over $100 bucks with a FIVE year warranty! Needless to say Sears sold a battery that day.

So it could very well be a faulty battery so early

You know, I'm really surprised my Motorsport (OEM Ford) battery is still doing just dandy after all this time. Same battery as when it left the dealership in 2002.

Without a doubt, I'll be buying another Motorsport battery, rather than some super fancy hyped up Optima.

Yeah my 2002 F150 still has the original battery in it too, they are good ones for sure. But like all things there are faulty ones occasionally.

I was just upset that Ford wouldn't cover anything at 13 months, but would sell me the same battery & WOULD cover it for 5 years! Didn't make sense to me.

I dont know if FORD fixed this problem but a bunch of people have had problems with their battery dying on the 05+ cars. There are several threads on this.

Got word this afternoon that my alternator is dead I am told that hopefully they'll get an alternator and have it repaired by tomorrow afternoon I asked if it was a common thing for the alternator to go out on such a new car and the mechanic said that "as long as they make them they'll go out"(well ...DUH...). I then politely requested that they please park her inside for the night. Now I can just hope I get her back tomorrow

Living in the hot, dry Arizona desert, batteries don't last as long as in other climates. When I first moved to Phoenix, the batteries in both my cars died in the first summer. I replaced them the cheap route and they continued to die every summer. Not worth it just to save a few bucks IMO.

Personally I have had great luck with Sears Die Hard and Optima batteries. My choice by far is the truely maintenance free and sealed jell battery. You don't have any leakage the might corrode your car or make a mess out of the terminal connections. To me, that is worth a few extra bucks. Optima all the way...

YEY!! I'm so glad everything went well - I've had my fingers crossed for you all day - starting to get hard to type

Thanks for the update and glad you ended up having as positive of an experience as possible, given the circumstances!!!

Thanks, IKandy, I just hope nobody else has this problem. Really weird but I guess it happens. Anyway, the dealership was very good to me and I have a great relationship with them so far.

Crap, I think I have the same problem with my 07 with only 2300 Miles on her. Every now and then I start the car and get a message in the message center that says "check charging system" and the battyry on the dash lights up. Sometimes, after like 5 mins it just disapears by its self.... Can you please post what symtoms you car had. Thanks
