Help needed with brakes

I was cleaning my wheels today and noticed one of my front calipers was loose. I took off the wheel and one nut was missing and the other was only finger tight. My question is this; are the Roush calipers held on with the factory nuts or do I need to call Roush? I believe there is also a washer behind the nut???? Does anyone know the torque specifications for these nuts? Does anyone know the torque specifications for the wheels? Is it 100 for the wheels?

Call Roush dealer to get parts and torque wheel nuts to 100.

There are brackets that are mounted with the Ford bolts. This bracket then holds the caliper with Roush Bolts. This would a warranty thing if the brakes were on from the dealer.

The only problem is that the nearest Roush dealer is 2 hrs away. Hopefully they will send me the parts directly from Roush. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately this is not the first thing that was left loose by the Roush installers. I think I will check mine tomorrow...

Ok so I called Roush about my brake issue. They recommended I take it to the Roush dealer for a warranty claim. Ok, as if I hadn't tought of that. I explained the nearest dealer is 1 hr 30 mins away and the car cant be driven. I asked for them to just send me the missing nut (even if I had to pay for it) and they refused. They recommend that I have it towed to the dealer. WTF. Apparently they don't know how a tow truck works. These cars won't go on a rollback either...let alone the expense involved. I do have my own trailer and plan to haul it to the dealer...but WTF are these guys thinking. Why cant I buy a part to fix my car?????????????

Ok so I just got off the phone with the nearest Roush dealer and asked them if I could buy the nut to fix my brakes. They called the factory and Roush told the dealer that they would not sell them the part? My only option for repair is through the dealer. Roush documented my VIN and the issue and wont sell the dealer the part for re-sale. I'm not an attorney but this has to be illegal. They are claiming it is a safety issue and they are liable. Again I say WTF. I guess I will have to plan for a nice day and some time off of work. I also have a wrinkle in my hood stripe which needs to be fixed. I asked if the dealer could pre-order the parts so this could all be done in one trip. They said no???? Pricks

So what they are saying is you must bring the car in and have the dealer do a warranty repair correct?

It may be a pain, but Roush is covering their ass. It IS a safety issue, and their view is, if they sell you the part, you could theoretically install it wrong and die. (okay, a little exaggeration there) They are just making sure the job is done correctly. Best part is, if it should fail again, it is the dealer's responsibility since they did (will do) the repair. Consider yourself lucky Roush even accepted the issue as valid instead of telling you to F-off.....

Yep I am happy it has a warranty, But its my car not Roush's. If I want to fix it myself I should be able to. So, for a $.10 part I am going to have to take two days off work and drive a total of 6 hrs and eat about $150 in diesel fuel towing my $50,000 car for a $.10 part. Yep I am glad it has a warranty. The way I see it is, if they offered to fix it and I declined, then I'm liable.

Just venting...I am a little frustraded with the whole process if you can't tell.

There is not a Roush dealer in Ft. Wayne?

Don't know if you knew but Harold Zeigler in Elkhart is a Roush dealer.

Gotcha, I feel your pain man. I bought a ski boat brand new two years ago. The dealer was 2+ hours from my house (closest boat dealer to me at the time). At the beginning of the second season, I blew the motor (faulty plug...wtf?), anyhow, I had the make the drive a few times for a estimate, and then a repair. Fortunately it was covered by the 9 days I had left on the warrenty!

Nope...nearest one is not too far from you. Elkhart which is up by Southbend/Goshen. My other option is Muncie (New Roush Dealer) or Tom Wood Ford in Indy. I will take it up to Elkhart and have the issue taken care of along with my wrinkled stripe. Maybe this is why I got such a good deal on a sweet car. Oh by the way, I received the call today on my new car. Build date is Feb 08. I will bring it over to Sturgis after I get it picked up in Albion MI.

You should have a fun time. Can't make it this week-end but I do have and appointment there for Nov. 1. Having a new drive-shaft installed, UDP's and a custom dyno tune. My case of Royal Purple should be here tomorrow. Need to get the oil changed before then.

Bring you new car by when you get it.
