Cool Dead Battery

I too, had problems with my 06 Stage 3 battery going dead after a couple of days. After charging it overnight 3 times, I decided to look into the problem deeper. Just by chance, while cleaning the windows inside, I heard a crackling sound out of the right front subwoofer. I checked the factory manual to find the amplifier fuse location. After removing this 30 amp fuse for the amplifiers in the drivers front kick panel the dead battery problem went away. The dealership here replaced both of the sub amps and the car has been fine since.

Hi Brian! Welcome to FnSweet!! Thanks for the post, good to know - there's been a variety of dead battery issues posted on here, but this is the first I've heard of this possibility.

On a side note -post up some pics of your S3 so we can all drool!!

Thanks for the info and welcome to the site. Ever since I started turning the radio off when I turned the car off I never had an issue. That is until I drove it Saturday and forgot to turn the radio off when I put it up. On Monday it didn't have enough juice to turn it over. I'm calling Ford today.

Dead Battery

Hey folks thanks for the welcome. I live in Oiler country( Edmonton,AB Canada) and the car is under it's car cover in storage, so the pics will have to come later. It's -38 degrees C with a -54 degree windchill outside so you can see I won't be driving it for awhile. You folks in the U.S.A. don't know how lucky you are for 2 reasons. The weather lets you drive your cars alot more. The big reason is the cost. My car is an 06 Torch Red Stage 3 with all the goodies except the Roush big brake kit. Asking price at the dealer when it first was in the showroom-- $ 70,000 Canadian plus 6% tax. I waited long enough and got it for $55,000 plus tax because they said they wanted to make room for 2 more Stage 3's, a Roush truck, and 2 Shelby GT 500's.
The Shelby's went for $100,000 for the convertible and $85,000 for the coupe.
Sick eh!! On another note, the dealers here are asking $69,000 for a 427R and get this-- $91,000 Canadian for a S281 Saleen Coupe with S/C.
See how lucky you are.

Wow! I didn't realize that they were going for so much up there. Sounds like it's time for me to buy some Roush cars and haul them up there to sell them.

The highways were finally clear enough today, for me to feel safe driving the car on them. The Mustang hadn't been started since Dec. 27 and after reading all these dead battery posts, I was a bit worried. It's been stored inside, but not in a heated environment with the temps getting down into the 20's inside the building. As it turned out, I didn't have to worry. The car spun over and came to life just like it did when I picked it up last May. I made a quick trip to a neighboring town....about 32 miles round trip....man I love those heated seats! You cold really tell that the 15 degree outside air was building a bit more HP in the 4.6. It felt good to be behind the wheel again. I've been driving my 92 Taurus SHO as the daily winter driver for the last couple of months, so driving the Mustang felt like driving a whole new car again!
