Service engine light came on
Yesterday my service engine light came on. I bought a reader, and the code is P0420, catalyst efficiency below threshold (bank 1). Do I need to get the cats replaced soon, or is it ok to drive for a while? The car runs like a scalded dog. Thanks for any input.

It could just be a o2 sensor

+1 - could just be O2 sensor, or yes, you may need to replace cats. Fords are notorious for throwing these types of codes. Just clear it out and see how long it takes to come back, if it ever does. If there is not a noticeable drop in performance/gas mileage, then it probably doesn't need new cats.

I'll fill it up again and check the mileage. I haven't noticed a significant drop. And I cleared the code, so I'll see how it takes to return. Thanks for the input.
