Oh darn Gordon and Johnson didn't pass inspection. I hope they get penalized as all other have been.

I think there are way to many rules for the car of tomorrow that are vague, I'm not just saying this because I am a Hendricks fan either, even when DEI got penalized back in May for rear wing violations I think the severity was uncalled for. The Car in new, the rules are new, there should be some window to allow for adaptation to the new rules at least until next year or whenever they decide to run the COT full time, and since the COT is being driven in competition I refuse to call it the COT anymore, in my brain it is the CORN (car of right now). ok rant over.

Not understanding the defense of the rules violations....
DEI or Hendricks. My understanding from listening to various NASCAR shows was NASCAR told the teams do not alter body parts on the COT. I don't see any so called "GRAY" area there.

My personal opinion is that 100 points and 100 G's is a little harsh...
There seems to be NO consistency with Nascar's penalties and seriously I think if Chad keeps it up then Hendrick needs to drop him. I mean yes he is very intelligent and makes some excellent calls on the track but he is quickly becoming infamous. I mean I love my JJ but if he is not competing fairly, whether he is aware of it or not, which i believe it is the latter, he should be punished. |

got this from Jayski's.............#24, #48 Teams Penalized For Infractions At Infineon Raceway: NASCAR has issued penalties and fines to the #24 and #48 Hendrick Motorsports teams that compete in the Nextel Cup Series, as a result of rule infractions found this past weekend at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. Both cars – the #24 driven by Jeff Gordon and the #48 driven by Jimmie Johnson – were found to be in violation of Sections 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-Q (car, car parts, components and/or equipment used do not conform to NASCAR rules); 20-2.1E (parts or components of the car not previously approved by NASCAR that have been installed or modified to enhance aerodynamic performance will not be permitted); and 20-2H (fenders may not be cut or altered except for wheel or tire clearance which must be approved by the Series Director) of the 2007 NASCAR rule book. The violations were found during the initial inspection process last Friday. As a result, Gordon and Johnson have each been penalized 100 driver championship points. Their respective crew chiefs – Steve Letarte and Chad Knaus – have each been fined $100,000, suspended for the next six Nextel Cup Series events until Aug. 15, 2007 and placed on probation until Dec. 31, 2007. In addition, Rick Hendrick, owner of the #24, has been penalized 100 car owner championship points as has Gordon, who is the owner of the #48.(NASCAR PR)(6-26-2007)

Hate to see it happen to JJ but glad Nascar is finally becoming consistent...maybe now Chad will see the error of his ways seeing as how his mastermind has now not only fked last years champion out of contention for this year but also fked the man who so far appeared to be well on his way to another possible championship (which...i have no problem with cuz im not a JG fan)
