2008 Sprint Cup...what yaw think about it?

So anyone think that NASCAR is going to be better or is it gonna suck this year. As much of a diehard NASCAR fan that I am and having worked in the sport for 10 years in my past I am losing interest. The NEW CAR for starters is just a POS and I am not too thrilled about the invasion of the OPEN WHEEL guys. You know I was watching a 1991 race at Bristol the other night on ESPN2 and I remembered why I love NASCAR so much. Just not sure if I can continue to love it as much anymore. As far as 08 goes I will be pulling for two guys which are from different teams and one in a BOWTIE and on in the BLUE OVAL.

GO

DALE JR. & GREG BIFFLE

Not a big fan to be honest. The name alone reminds me of sprint cars, plus the COT sucks a big one.

I mean, come on, with the COT every race especially on the super speedways turns into a follow the leader. They get in a line and travel around to the last 12 laps, so stupid.

Its going to suck this year unless nascar removes there heads from a certain oriface.

Here is how I rank the 2008 season and Nascar in general;

+1 point for making a safer vehicle, bigger crush zones, bigger cockpit that is easier to get out of in a hurry.

+1 point for additional safety by making the cars less aero sensitive, less spinouts by losing air on the rear spoiler when another car is simply passing on the outside.

-1 point for designing a weaker handling car, this just goes against all basic principles.

-5 points for putting an ugly car on the track. Ok -5 points is a totally made up and inflated number obviously but I wanted to give it more weight for a reason. The cars are basically the main visual experience of the fans as they watch a race and since this is what we mainly see for 3 1/2 hours this has more impact on the overall experience and enjoyment of the motor sport.

-1 point for Nascar pissing off ALL of its fans. No one likes the COT.

Total grade -5 points. Again totally made up numbers but the point is Nascar has taken the fastest growing sport in the world and completely reversed its popularity putting it now in a negative perspective. Nascar has a lot of restitution to make with its fans. For the first time I can remember I am not that excited for the season to start.

Not a NASCAR fan, can't wait to see John Force back in the seat piloting a Funny Car down the 1/4 mile here next month.

I would rather see Brittany Force in my back seat doing some piloting.

From what I heard the NASCAR ratings have alrady been going down.

I think the COT is bad. Not only are they UGLY, Handle like crap, but every car is the same. If they are going to call it a Ford it needs to look like a Ford. Granted the other cars didn't really either but still, this is a move in the wrong direction.

I HATE that Joe Gibbs went to Toyota. What a SELL OUT. I like Tony, and Kyle Busch, but won't be able to really support them due to them driving a Toyota.

The fact the Jimmie, Jeff, and Jr. are all at Hendricks seems absolutley rediculous. It looks to me like NASCAR needs to put in some kind regulations on that. I don't like Hendricks also, so that is part of it.

To me the racing is getting boring. I fall asleep during many of the races. My GF watchs them so I can't change the channel.

NASCAR is also to strict on the drivers. I don't care what anyone says it's NOT a family sport. It's racing. Sure beep out the cuss words, but beep them out not stop them from saying them. Let them fight, within reason. They do it in NHL all the time.

No offense meant Jason, just a drag racer at heart. I even went to the Daytona 500 when Jr. one it after his dad died. Good race don't get me wrong, its just every time they finally get going, there's a wreck and you wait forever for the cleanup. I think it was a better sport when you could tell the difference between the manufacturers rides, and the drivers were looked at as heroes, not crybabies. It's unfortunate that all sports are heading down that road and racing was one of the last sports frontiers that was free of poor sportmanship and an "it's all about me" mentality. This sport needs to return closer to its roots of "stock car" than further away from it with the "COT".

It's thinks it has taken the championship belt away from wrasslin' as "King of the male soap opera"

Yep your right 360Rocket NASCAR is going the wrong way...My favorite period of NASCAR was from around the 1986-1996 years

I liked it better when you had to produce 500 per manufacturer and put them on the streets to prove they were "stock cars" Like the Ford Talledega and Dodge Daytona/Plymouth Superbird.

Call me crazy... but I m as big of a NASCAR fan as anyone on here... And I really look forward to this season... I will say that I m not crazy about Toyota joining in on the fun... but I do think that change is always good... and I take my hat off to nascar for making such a great sport safer and always trying to keep up with the competetion.

Let me just say I love Nascar and I can't wait to see how the racing will be at Daytona with the Car Of Today I have tickets for the shoot out, duels, trucks, nationwide and sprint cup for 5 days . The one thing I don't like is the open wheel guys coming in like they are with out have to move up the ranks like everyone else have had to, I'm a big smoke fan ( GO #20 sorry Deb ) and I know thats where he came from but he does run the other series and he is from the states unlike most other open wheeled guys. I really agree with the King with the sport needs to stay with local USA drivers to help the sport out to move forward.

As for Tony driving a Toyota he is a chevy owner in sprint cars (dirt cars) so thats hard for him to promote both.

That was the best racing with a "stock" car in the sports 60 year history
