Roush still fighting with Toyota

looks like Jack caught Toyota trying to steal some parts(from Jayski.com).........Roush Says Toyota Team Stole "Proprietary Part": ESPN the Magazine has an interesting and potentially explosive quote from Roush Fenway Racing co-owner Jack Roush as part of its 10th Anniversary issue, which is on newsstands this week. Two weeks ago at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the magazine quotes Roush as saying, “We had a proprietary Roush Fenway part go missing from one of my race teams, and we recovered it from a Toyota team. I’m not going to say which team it is, but we are considering legal action, or getting NASCAR involved.” If Roush’s allegations prove to be true, this could become NASCAR’s version of the recent spy scandal that rocked Formula One racing, in which the McLaren-Mercedes team was caught with confidential, proprietary test information belonging to rival Ferrari. We contacted Roush Fenway Racing today in search of further information – including team was involved and the specific part in question -- and we [SIRIUS Speedway w/ Dave Moody] hope to have a statement from them later today.(Motorsports Soapbox)(3-25-2008) Comment here

For once I agree with Jeff Gordon.

Jack is acting childish for a man his age and he's over blowing the situation. “What’s he doing with stuff just laying around the garage area?” four-time Sprint Cup Series champion Jeff Gordon joked Friday. “If that was a proprietary piece, I’d think that you’d have some tighter grips on it. I think the whole thing is hilarious.”

Waltrip admitted to Scene Daily on Friday afternoon that it was his team that took the swaybar.

“It was a mistake,” Waltrip told Scene Daily. “Look at the back of these toolboxes. There are sway bars, there’s jack handles, and it wound up in our possession. We called them and said, ‘We want to give this back.”’

Here is what Nascar director has to say. It’s not the first time that somebody’s gone home with a mistaken part,” John Darby, NASCAR’s Sprint Cup director, said during practice at Martinsville Speedway.

“It’s not a PIN number to somebody’s bank account. It’s a swaybar, a very simple, very non-smart kind of a part, and I don’t know why it’s amplified to where it has.”

With all the traveling teams do, all their equipment and the ease with which things get mixed up, Darby said it’s no big deal.

“Our garage is open. Somebody can walk up to anybody’s pit stall and look and see and photograph and measure and smell and touch any part they want to in the garage, and we’ve always been that way,” he said. “These are just stock cars and stock car parts.”

Jack, go back and focus on racing and making great Mustangs instead of acting like a bitter old man.

BTW, this doesn't even come close to what happened in F1. In F1 a former Ferrari employee gave McLaren several CDs that contained the blueprint of the Ferrari F1 car, from its aero design, engine specs, weight balance and distrubition, strengths and weaknesses.

That's all well and good, until you get to the part where MWR contacted the vendor that made the proprietary part for Roush and tried to get the vendor to make the same thing for them....which is how Roush found out who had their missing swaybar. Apparently MWR liked Roush's swaybar enough to see if they could get it copied for themselves.

Maybe Jack has let this get the better of him but, with all that NASCAR has done (nothing but ruin the sport IMO) to Jack you can't blame him for being pissed. Then of coarse they aren't aiming for him BS. If they aren't aiming for Jack then why is Jack the only team that is get hit with the limits of number of cars teams in NASCAR. They (NASCAR) need to show me they he is not a target by lifting that or changing that to limit to two teams that way it hits ALL OWNERS. No that not what I want but it would show they are not targeting Jack, IMO. With what he has done for the sport one would think they wouldn't try make fans think that they are targeting Jack. I still think that Mr. Smith is the man that could pull off a new racing seires with the track that he already owns and the heck with Brain France! Sorry for rattling on or leading away for topic.
