Roush rolls out TWO new special edition Stage 3 F-150s

07-17-06 www.TheMustangNews.com: Livonia based custom builder of Fords, Jack Roush has been busy over the past few years increasing his reach into the truck realm. Their “Stage” F-150 trucks have grown increasingly popular. The Stage 3 in particular, with its 445hp supercharged 5.4 V8 has been a hit for those wanting both a vehicle for Home Depot and for the strip.

This month Roush Performance has released two very limited editions of the Stage 3 F-150 to commemorate their dominance in NASCAR racing.

The first and most limited is the ROUSH Champion Edition Stage 3 F-150. The black and yellow truck commemorates the Dewalt #17 race car driven by Matt Kenseth, 2003 NASCAR Nextel Cup champion. The Dewalt Champion Edition is equipped with the ground pounding 445 hp ROUSHcharged V8 and full Stage 3 package. The special edition is limited to only 17 copies and is only available at Benna Ford in Superior, WI

A more widely available special edition announced is the Roush 500RC. With special graphics, it adds big-time pickup to the F-150. Now in production and available at dealers nationwide, the 500RC is a true road runner thanks to 445 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque generated by the addition of a ROUSHcharger system. This is a substantial increase in power and performance over the 300 horsepower and 365 lb-ft of torque that is generated from the stock Ford factory 5.4L, 3-valve engine, and the entire truck, including the ROUSHcharger, is covered by Roush's industry-leading 3-year/36,000-mile warranty.

Additional Roush treatments include a dual rear exit high-performance exhaust system, 20-inch chrome wheels and tires, and a billet aluminum grille. Completing the styling and proving the heritage of the truck is the unique 500RC fender and tailgate badging, top and side stripe kit, and the serial badge in the engine compartment. Born from Roush Racing's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series program, the 500RC is a perfect example of what lies between a race truck and a regular truck - a Roush truck.

A variety of options are available, including the stylish ROUSH hood scoop, rear wing, front chin spoiler, sport suspension system, sport leather seating, billet aluminum pedals and performance instrument cluster. Complete details can be found online at www.RoushPerformance.com.

I like the Dewalt/Kenseth one also. I've driven a similar truck and they are impressive for such a big vehicle. Too bad the computer shuts it down at 98mph. Gets there pretty quick tho'. People are going to have to get that turned off for the track. I'm pretty sure you will be right around that in the 1/4 mile.

I will play the devil's advocate on this one...

This huge variety of Trucks is too much. Too many different packages of the same truck, with practically the same parts... getting to be like so many people offering different Mustangs - but this is a single company. For those dorks who think they will have a limited edition and can make a profit in a few years... man will this be difficult.

Ok... back to normal me.

I originally saw the Dewalt trucks in the RPP storage up at their plant when I was in Detroit last week. I tried to take some photos but was chased away by thier security guards.

So when I got back I called them up and asked if they had any photos, which they did not. So they actually scheduled a photo shoot of this truck (Dewalt) just for us.

Special thanks to RPP!

BTW: What you cannot see in the photo is a huge #17 on the back window.

I agree with the Mustang comparison. Too much, although cool for the consumer a bit much too IMHO.
