Which clutch to buy?

In anticipation of getting a sc this spring, I am looking at clutches and flywheels. Which should I get, the Spec Stage 2 or the Quarter Master?

As always, thanks for your input.

I was talking to Hermann of Horsepower by Hermann the other day about this, and he only uses Spec, more specifically the Spec 3+. He says better than stock pedal feel and slippability, and holds up tp 900 ft/lbs...I don't know about your car, but the Cobra has huge pedal effort and I am looking forward to putting this in. Parts ordered, go in week after next.

I looked into several articles on this topic and it seems that the hot ticket right now is the Centerforce DFX clutch with an RPS Cyn-R-G flywheel. Good for more than 500 to the wheels. Check out January 07 5.0 magazine for more info.

I've driven with Kevlar clutches out of Lancaster,California and they work REAL GOOD.They hold well and work well with the heat.No slipping unless you do it yourself but it actually seemed to grip better when it gets heated up.It did on our dragster. We had a multi pack we ran. Also a drag Stang that had a Stage 3 clutch and it ran fine with it.

I put a Spec STAGE 3+ in mine. I holds good, but comes on a little hard. Thus I think all the broken transmissions at the track lately.

I drove Roush 2960's car with the Apex clutch... at first I was reluctant to because of the HD clutch and my lack of manual co-ordination... however it was absolutely no problem at all. Very easy to engage in LA traffic I could use that clutch with no problem!

...you're making me feel better spending the extra money to go 26 spline while it's apart, but also have me wondering how quickly I am going to find the next weakest link....

Yeah. Time for me to upgrade the tranny. I'm thinking a TKO600 or a built t-56 (g-force). Not sure yet. I'm focus on buying the KB 2.6 at the moment. I wonder how much plasma is going for these days?

It is my understanding that the clutch being used in the Drag Pack cars is the Spec Stage 2+.

Figure if Roush is using it, it should be pretty decent.

Its still in there and grabbing as hard. It's very touchy when first installed but after a short break in it truly a great clutch. The company that makes them is Superior Clutch in San Jose you can contact them to get the clutch or I might have a second source other then apex. The install has to be done clean ..IE almost surgeon like with no grease or oil can touch the surface of the disk and the clamping side of the pressure plate.
