Wheels for track use

I plan on doing 3 or 4 track events this year so I want to get a set of 18" wheels and tires for track use only. Can anyone suggest a set of wheels that would be good to use on the track? I really don't care what color/style they are............
Thanks!

I have a set of Shelby replicas in 18" for sale. They have Sumitomo HTRZ2 275/40 tires with about 3000 miles on them. If you're interested we could meet half way between us. I'll let them go for $500 firm. Here they are on the car:

Sounds like a great deal. Who makes the wheels? Do you think they would hold up ok for track use?

I don't know who makes them, I got them from Mustang Tuning (now American Muscle) here is their webpage http://www.americanmuscle.com/2007-g...rome-2005.html. As far as track duty, I don't know? Perhaps someone while chime in.

Family Man, assuming you mean tires AND wheels for 500.00, then I will take them! What is the width of the wheels?

Those chrome Bullitt wheels on your car look great! I will send you a PM with my cell phone so we can arrange where to meet, ok?

Thanks!

Dave

Dave,

Yep, both wheels and tires! I want to get rid of them and get them out of the garage.

I just did this last year with my factory Mach1 wheels with a guy from the west of Chicago. I know a good halfway point to meet. Look forward to talking to you.

Thanks for the compliment on the Bullitts.

Mike

I just realized that I have 14" rotors and the huge 4 piston calipers so do you know if the wheels will clear these? I can call Mustang Tuning if need be......

18s clear the 14" Alcon system on 99-04 Mustangs, I would assume it would on newer ones as well...you need to be looking for backspacing I believe that's more of a problem due to the size of the caliper. Too bad I don't know what you need, 35mm seems to come to mind for some reason...

If you plan on doing track events I would suggest some sort of lightweight racing wheel. But then again your talking big bucks.

Thanks. What companies make the lightweight wheels?
