Coastline aluminum driveshaft

Has anyone bought one of these yet? I just ordered one last night and was wondering what you thought of it? I probably should have asked before I bought, but that's me, putting the cart before the horse.

Send a message via AIM to innrkid
you are my hero....

Is there anything available that you have not ordered for the car?

Be honest....do those two lovely kids have shoes?

I've heard some good things on other forums....

Myself...I think I am going to go with this one:
http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/html/ford_mustang.html
Lifetime warranty + only 3" diameter...so even though it weighs more...it is smaller diameter so the inertial effects should be similar and this is all steel....but being 3" clearance is much less of a concern....

I talked to them, and was looking at that. The guy there was super cool and full of great info. I think you made a great buy. I may be doing the same thing soon.

I have been waiting for Apex to get back to me on their driveline, but I haven't heard anything in a while.

Whilst on the subject, why did ford use the two piece in the first place?

I was wondering the same thing. I was rather suprised when I saw a 2 piece shaft on the car.

I have no idea why they did that. It seems weaker, and is obviously heavier.

i plan on buying one of these but was told that the 1 pieces are a pain in the ass to install. this was told to me by a ford mechanic. can you please elaborate on what is necessary to remove old and put on new. i know the jist of it but the mechanic told me that there were some things that get in the way that made it quite a job

I don't think it would be that hard. Coast Drive Line told me all you have to do is move the emergency brake cable or like 2 inches, and if your car is low then you may need to roll a body seam toward the back. Otherwise it's pretty much some nuts and bolts. I am pretty sure the exhaust may not even be in the way, even if it is that is easy to losen.

1pc Drive shafts

So has anybody noticed any increased vibrations, or anything else to be concerned with?

I have not noticed any increased vibration at all! I even have the Poly Motor Mounts that BMR added to thier K-Member! Still...NO VIBRATIONS at all!

As for the install on teh Driveshaft......Ther were no obstructions on my install. Easy to do:

Drop exhaust H-Pipe, Unbolt Driveshaft, Bolt in 1piece shaft and Replace h-pipe! DONE! I wousl suggest adding a Driveshaft Safety Loop while you have the car on the lift adn teh driveshaft off! I weent with teh BMR Tunnel brace!

OK, I am resurrecting this thread since my talk with Fidanza. As mentioned it appears the fidanza unit is history.

Family Man....are you still happy with your coastline? Looks like it may be my next choice.

From talking to a Ford mechanic friend he claims the reason Ford went with the 2 piece drive shaft was for crash test reasons. I think the one piece shaft could punch up through the floor or maybe back to the gas tank? The 2 piece unit solves this I guess.

I went with a Dynatech after getting Denied for the Fidanza one. I got it from Steve (Rangersfan) at Steeda.

I will let everyone know how things go. I could get it as soon as Friday, in which case it will go in on Saturday.

I also ordered BMR Front and rear driveshaft loops to help with any breakage or issues.

Good luck with the Dynatech. Do let us know how it turns out.

One of the reasons I liked the Fidanza was the slip yoke part. (Under the bellows boot) I see the Coastline has the boot also. Hopefully Family Man can tell me whether there is a slip yoke there also.

The Dynatech has a slip to it... I have to admit I don't really know much about drivelines and what is what though. You can see a photo of the Dynatech on Steeda.com.
