Heater controls acting up AARRGGGHHH

Hey anyone else out there have heater and a/c control problems? When i turn my heater on to the floor/defrost setting the darn things starts alternating between the two. Also i have two temprature settings Cold and very Hot. I also noticed a slight power loss and fuel economy drop in the engine when this started. There are not any dash warning lights or any other noticable symtoms. Thoughts comments or suggestions welcome. Thanks

I have not experienced any issues with mine.

On the older models the heater system ran on a vacuum system and that could cause the defroster vent issues. Not sure if the new systems are the same or not though. As for a loss of power, got me there. Not sure how they would be connected.

My wife's Expedition did that, Would switch back and forth from floor to defrost. Dealer said the vac. assembly went bad.

Fixed it

Well i cracked the dash today and started digging for the problem. I got lucky and found the electrical connection to the heater controls was partially disconnected. The connector plug is held into the back of the heat/ac control unit with a grey rotating locking device. Apparantly during my stereo installation i did not completly seat the connector. As soon as i re-seated it everything began working correctly again including the engine. I think the plug might have been partially shorted causing extra load on the electrical system which in turn caused the engine lugging. But all is well now. Just some FYI info if anyone else ever has this problem.
