Oil Pressure Gauge install help

I am trying to install a autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge on a piller pod. My question is where is the connection to the engine made? What adaptors are needed?

usually pic up off the oil filter mount. might even be an extra pressure sensor plug there.

There is only one port on the 05+ cars. On the driver's side next to the oil filter facing the back of the car there is the stock sensor. You need to keep this or the computer could freek out. You can't use it though as it's just a on off switch really that serves a different function then the Autometer guage.

I can't remember the thread now, but it's just a pipe thread. I took out the stock sensor and went to a hydraulic fitting shop. They have the best stock. Home Depot or Lowes type places may have these parts as well. I used a T fitting and had to use a 45* fitting as well to get the stock sensor to clear the motor mount.

I looked something like this...( I had to get the 45* after the photo)

This is a look at the oil filter area. you can see a little oil dripping from where the sensor was installed.

If you do a search for guages there should be a few threads on it. I know I did one with photos.

Thank you to both of you for your insight and photos. I was thinking of going with a glow shift adaptor i found on the internet. What do you think?

I'm not very familiar with those. Do you have a link to the site you found them at?

Thank you very much for the thread!!! This is great info. Can you look at the link for the glow shift adaptor i sent to pastor J in the last post and let me know if there would be enough space around the oil filter to install it? It looks pretty tight under there.

Theres more room than you think, that would probably clean things up better. I had to use a 90* elbow because of where the factory sender was. The oil filter comes out at a different angle giving you more clearance.

That adapter looks sweet.

My only concern would be where the openings ended up. If they pointed the wrong way it would never work. If they poin the right way, you are golden. I want one, if they line up right.

Just not in blue, maybe yellow. lol

Just curious, is this an oil temperature sender on the oil pan drain plug?

I know pastor J and 1bad06roush did a collaboration with other members on this same issue. What I need to know now is what wire(s) to I tap into behind the headlamp switch to get dimmer control on the gauges. I am also hooking up an ampmeter as well and need to know what gauge wire to use. I like to burn out not burn up. ha ha

I'm not sure why you need an ampmeter, maybe an inline fuse. Anyways here are a couple pics of where I tied my lights into.

Wire for the lights (dimmer works here also):
the wire in my car was white w/ a blue stripe
