question about selling a used SCT Xcal2

Since I no longer have use for my SCT XCal2, I would like to sell it. I have a seller lined up but I want to make sure he won't have any problems with it.

I have a few questions for those that might know.

It came from tuned from Brenspeed with 3 canned tunes; 87, 91 and 93 octanes. Before I had the Whipple installed I returned my factory Ford tune to the car, so there is only the 3 custom tunes on the Xcal. Would the new user be able to just plug it in and proceed to use like I did? Is my car's data at still on the tuner and will it goof it up for the new user?

thanks for the help!

As long as you returned the car you programmed it with back to stock, you're almost home free.

The only thing that needs to be done is the device needs to be unlocked. It's pretty easy, download LiveLink, hook up the device and unlock it. The device locks to the VIN or some other unique identifier of the vehicle once it's programmed. It can only be unlocked by you through LiveLink if the car it programmed was returned to stock. With LiveLink, you can also clear the custom tunes off it I believe (if you want).

I already did this with my XCal2 since I want to eventually use it on either the Cobra or the Diesel.

So.... I have my SCT xcal2 from my Roush... but never got a chance to dump the tune back to stock. Is this thing a paperweight now?

I have been told it can be sent to SCT for 150... anyone ever hear of this?

Yeah, I've heard of that and as far as I know that's the only way to unlock it at this point for ya.

I believe as long as you returned it to stock tune you are OK. I guess a quick call to Brenspeed would tell you for sure.
