    SpinTech or Magnapack....Or other?

Well I have had the stock Roush side exhaust for awhile now and I just don't care for the sound. Even with the Bassani X pipe it’s still way to quite. So here is where I'm at. I know Spintechs are weld in and I can do that my self at my shop but I know the Magnapacks will require custom piping from the x pipe back. Has anyone here had both and which one did they like better? As far as sound? By the way, this is going on an 01 Cobra. I have a ton of performance parts going on this winter (built 5.0L short block, H/C, T-56, Built IRS, suspension ect ect) I just want the sound to match the power. Thanks for your guys help in advance!

FYI Borla also makes a side exit exhaust muffler - I had them on my '00 matched to an o/r H. No rasp, throaty when idling and driving casually and absolute monsters above 3k. I loved them - they had a very smooth sound to them, as opposed to the "Harley Davidson" sound you sometimes get with the magnapacks. Spintechs can be a little raspy too, especially with an X pipe but many people here love them.

My vote is for the Borla side exhaust mufflers! I will see if I can find a link...

Edit - after searching Borla's new catalog online, it appears they no longer make this muffler, so you may be out of luck unless you can find a used set somewhere. Too bad, because they really were wicked!

If youre complaining about quietness then youve already answered your question. Spintech or nothing at all

I aslo had the borla side pipes, didn't care for them. They were not loud enough for me. Now i have slp mufflers comming out the side. They are awsome. Very mean sounding at idle, and just rediculous at full throttle.

I have Dynomax Bullets out the back and they sound awesome. When i get my stage 3 kit i will be keeping these mufflers. Sound is deep and throaty. Loud as hell when you floor it.

What kind of mid-pipe did you have matched to the Borla's? I find the midpipe is usually the determining factor in how good a muffler / resonator sounds. I agree though, the Borla's are not the loudest, but they were PLENTY loud with an o/r h-pipe and had some personality to them as well, as opposed to the "BWAP BWAP BWAP" sound emitted from many of the straight-through type mufflers when matched to an o/r pipe.

Best exhaust combo I have ever heard in my life regardless of exit orientation is the Bassani catted X pipe with Borla Stingers on a 4v (Cobra) motor - if budget isnt an issue, seeing as you have a 4v I would have the exhaust shop fab up a custom piece to get the stingers out the side

Yeah I have yet to here that combo or anything like it....That is what I would want if I could get some stingers at a decent price. However I my just bite the bullet and get'em from Borla anyway.

I like both...the Spintechs I had previous to purchasing the Roush...were on a V6...and had a good tone...for the V6...I have the magnapacks on the Roush...and LOVE the snarl...and they exit out the back

Well jesus christ you better listen to these before you decide on anything then!

4v motor, Bassani Catted X + Borla Stingers:

    Light acceleration / driveby

    WOT

My best advice it to spend some $$$ and have this setup mandrel-bent and shoved out the side.

Another edit: FYI you can get the stinger mufflers by themselves for pretty damn cheap around the net (called Borla S-type muffler) - if your going to have the exhaust custom fab'd anyways, you dont need any extra piping like you would get buying a cat-back system.

I think the rear exit and side exit is a different tone with most setups.

The Magnapaks take the cake on the loudness scale, but I can tell you there is no other muffler that can mimic that of the Magnapak. I've been running them for a few yrs now and I have no complaints. Tons of complements and I have experienced the spintechs too....Paks are cheaper, and an easier install IMO. I am running the paks with an off road X pipe from BBK.

I have come to the conclusion that even a kitchen sink would sound great on a cobra! I don't think I have ever heard a 4v I didn't like... 2v on the other hand, it is very hit and miss.
