Question Stereo Resets (Shaker500) every time engine is started?!

Not sure what to think of this, but every time I go to start my car (2005 Roush Sport) when the engine is started my stereo has changed back to factory presets... like if the battery was disconnected.... come on in AM, Clock is set to 12:00 and the 6 disc changer starts shuffling the discs.....

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this? I did leave a dome light on and came out to a completely dead battery a few days ago. Put a trickle charger on it for half a day and things seemed fine. I rarely drive it so I hadn't noticed anything until today when I was showing off my new Stack Racing Push Button Igniton to a friend. Could it be possible I installed the push button incorrectly? I'm doubting this, because the stereo continues to reset even when I use the key to start the car, but I thought I'd bring it up.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Sure hope its as simple as needing a new battery!

    Thanks in advance

    Cheers

Battery possibly getting low and the memory is getting wiped. or the radio may be screwed. If it is i have one with litterally no use i switched it out immediately when new.Do make sure you installed the start right and it did not disturb the memory wire for the radio

Sounds like your battery is getting ready to sign off.

    sbr2005,

I thought it might be the new start button, but from what I can tell there is only one way to make it work.. The only issue I had was it called for a white wire and green wire to tap into .. while the green wire was present there were NO white wires in the ignition plug. I found a website that said to tap into the wire in port 1 of the plug. That is what I did and the push button works the way it is suppose to.

I am curious about your shaker500 even if mine is not faulty. There is some major signs of use on mine and some of the black button coating is bubbling or complete gone....which at night looks terrible as the whole button tends to light up rather then just the letter/number. How much are you looking to get for yours shipped?

    Shay,

I'm hoping your right as it sure would make things easy. After I found the battery dead and trickle charged, I have noticed that starting the car seems labored. Not quick by any means. Like the cranking amps are just enough to get the starter to turn and start the car, but not enough to provide power to everything else.

I'll be looking at a new battery soon and hopefully this will resolve the issue.

    Thanks for the responses

    Cheers

    sbr2005,

Wow that does look new. Right now I'm leaning on just replacing it with something aftermarket, but I'm not sure what to go with? For what I listen to the Shaker500 is plenty of stereo. I prefer to turn it off and listen to the roar of the exhaust. If you don't mind me asking, what did you replace yours with? I've been looking at an OEM style DVD/NAV on ebay that seems to be a direct replacement. Only issue is I can't tell who makes it so naturally I'm concerned of quality.

I have a FORD OEM Navigation unit that I pulled from my F150 that I got rid of that works quite well. Only issue I am having with it... more annoying than anything, is that when I turn the lights on, the NAV faceplate doesn't light up and the screen doesn't auto-dim like it should. I imagine it has to do with how its programmed. Maybe one day I'll take it into FORD and see if they would be willing to transfer the as-built info of the car into the NAV. Not sure if that is how it works though.

If I decide to stay Shaker I'll definately send you a PM with an offer. Hopefully by then you will still have yours!

    Cheers and thanks again

So I replaced the Battery with a new Optima Red Top and the problem is gone. When I removed the old battery there was a pool of battery acid in the tray. Looked like it was leaking from the top. Glad I caught this when I did.

    sbr2005,

Still maybe interested in the shaker though. Can't make up my mind on which route I'd like to go? I'll keep in touch.

    Cheers
