Forged internals for the 2012 RS3

just out of curiosity has anybody put forged internals in their RS3 yet, or thought of the idea weather bad or good? is it cost effective to do this? Dosen't the Boss 302 have forged internals i know that there was a company i think Leathal Performance, that put a blower on one and it was a beast i believe 840 horses. any input would be great

The only reason i have not SC my 2011 5.0 is because the internals are not forged. I''ve heard from several people on other forums who are running different supercharges on the stock internals and haven't had any problems yet. However, i'm preety sure i'm not going to risk it. I was given an estimate by a very well respected mechanic of 5,700 to change my internals and compression so i can safley SC. Currently i'm waiting on Power by the Hour to call me back with their estimate on chaing the internals. Ford sells a 5.0 cragte motor called the Aluminator for about 7,300. It has forged interbals is is ready for SC with a 9.5:1 compression.

There all kinds of new 5.0's pushing 600 to the wheels without any problems so far. Of course it would be better to have a forged block, but if you aren't going to go over 600 to the wheels just put the blower on and enjoy.

Yeah, i hear ya... It's the rods i'm worried about. They are made from powdered metal.

Also, the new coyote has an 11:1 compression ratio which is not Supercharge friendly at all. I don't understand how detonation is not a major problem with that compression

Not true. Rods ARE forged........To much Web Hoopla...........Pistons are NOT forged. All you need to do is put lower compression pistons in and you are all set. Still a lot of work. These motors are not a weak as everyone makes them out to be. You can put on an 82mm pulley on the stock motor and BE safe and make about 560 to the wheels.

I have a 2011 5XR. Its had a 75mm pulley on it since August 2011, making 15.75 max PSI and 620rwhp. Haven't had any issues with it. I've run it twice at VIR, and once at CMP with this set up.

Good golly, Miss Molly. How does that sucker drive? I bet it's amazing. Wish I had the kahunas to do that. I'd like to be around 550 at the rear. Just afraid to pull the trigger on it.

I love how she runs now. The key is finding a tuner who knows what they're doing. I was fortunate to have Competition Auto from NC in the same town as I was in. There are plenty of other shops that can do it, just make sure you use good one. Also don't settle for a generic emailed tune. I bought a Kenne Bell boost-a-pump ($250), JLT 127mm CAI($350), 75mm pulley($200), and dyno tune($300). This brought the car from 410rwhp to 620rwhp. Pretty decent price to power ratio I think.

Haven't had any issue with the clutch or transmission. I don't drag the car though.

Good to know that with normal driving and occasional harder use (minus dragging, which I don't do anyway) that everything including the tranny is holding up. I'm a road course, twisty road kind of guy. I'm looking closer into some engine mods. Thanks for the info.

It appears, really, that no one did it ? Strange...
