2015 Mustang..if this is close what do you think

So I've subscribed to a couple of the car channels on Youtube and the Drive channel is a new one to me. These guys don't seem to be your usual car journalists. I watched this video tonight and according to them this is close to what is being described as the next possible mustang. Fast forward to 19:29 and pause it to see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_hl4Tyd9GA

The whole video is interesting and I recommend watching it as it talks about a recent Wall Street Journal article and the changing demographics that Ford is going after. They are kicking baby-boomers to the side and going after generation Y.

So the question is....if this is remotely close, what do you think of it?

no one knows what the new Mustang will look like besides Ford. Many stying cues from that car were used on the new Fusion. I doubt the new Mustang will look anything like that. my .02

If you're not thrilled with the possibility of the new Mustang resembling the Evos concept car, then I suggest you load up the current model and/or the 2013 - 2014 model years. I believe that, while carrying on a few iconic Mustang styling cues...like triple tail lamps, etc....the next generation of Mustang will more closely resemble the Evos concept car...than not. Ford has made it very clear, that Retro is out and that the new Mustang will be a radical change from what we've been used to, since 2005. Like it or not...it's coming.

That facebook picture would be a good look. I just hate to see all of the Mustang soul go away. But then again, at 41, I'm the old guy they're talking about. That's sad. Thanks for that heads up, Shay! I'll be paying more attention to this.

On shay's link I kind of like the top pic but the red pic which is the same as in the video looks more like a 2 door taures then a Mustang.
2010 Roush 427r- TVS Dual Belt with stock pulley about 500rwhp. Trak pak 6 piston brakes, trak pak suspension adjusted even lower, Roush billet LCA's with BMR's red lca brackets. Roush hood struts, Grant Roush steering wheel, Roush upper and lower billet grill VMP tuned

YOU ASKED- Here is my opinion

No more changes for me, the '15 isn't were I want to go, IMO the best S197 styling is the first gen (2005-09) and it's only gone down hill since.
I won't be giving up mine anytime soon, but I may add a used Boss '12 model to the stable at some point (certainly not a '13 - I like the '13 color/combos but not the redesigned nose).

    1971 Boss 351, 1981 6cyl, 1985 GT, 2001 Bullitt, 2006 Roush, 2001 Roush, 2008 Shelby GT

The good and bad history repeats itself- must be time for the bad- here we come 1974 all over again
The off spring from the genuis that was behind the Mustang II and Probe must now be at Ford - gmafb

Well I'm 43 and lets all remember that the Fox body Mustang was one of the most popular of all time.....no retro style there. And...the SN95 Mustang, and the 2001-2004 bodies which many of us here own or owned were also very popular, again not retro in the least. So Im not too worried about the Mustang going modern. Been there done that already

While I was not a fan of the Mustang ll, it had more to do with the lack of performance than styling. If you look purely at production numbers, the Mustang ll sold as well as or better than most other years. 74's out sold 73's by almost 3 to 1.

The mustang 2 was one of the most gawd awful things of the past. What followed after that was not much better....as far as style goes anyway. The 2005-2012 are the real deal. My wife has a 2011 fusion, in red. Its not the real deal. The Fusion is used, when we have to go to the smiths for a dinner party, and we have to arrive in a....."real car". Now a "real car" is one that has 4 doors, seats at least 5 adults, and has a trunk the size of mars.

If the 2015 turns out to be your typ euro-trash design car, then forget it... bye bye mustang. I would not buy one. And what is wrong with torque thrust wheels anyway. I love my all chrome deep dish bullitt rims. Did you see the comments on the GT-500. I think its days are numbered as well...it won't meet CAFE requirements. You watch. Gas prices will skyrocket over the next 5 years, and CAFE requirements will go through the roof. Fire breathing V8's will be a thing of the past. The youngest baby boomer is now 48. The oldest is 64. Although a 50-64 year old boomer will like a mustang, his aging wife won't, hence they will have 2 cars. Direct inject 4 cylinder engs will be the new norm. And a 1.5 L turbo diesel, running on veggie oil will be the new defacto standard. Somewhere along the line, they will do something stupid, like an optional hybrid version. Yeah, I think its the end of an era, so enjoy it while you can.

Gas prices in europe and the UK are insane right now. Something like 2.20 pound sterling per litre. When I was in italy, and germany in 2007, it was $7.17 US funds, for one US gallon. Its even more now. The tank on my 2010 is 60.3 litres. You do the maths. This 2015 mustang will be based on an international platform, with a right hand drive available. Superb gas milage + high HP can't co-exist To satisfy the world wide market means you will dissapoint the north american market. But they are hedging their bets on generation Y...and not us old geezers. I guess their plan for us is to trade in the
500 hp retro mustang on a shiny new ford luxury car, with optional difibrilator. The sirius sattelite radio will be stuck on SPA. Obama will outlaw the V8....and the sky will fall in. I least I will be able to say I had a 500 hp retro-stang that did 160 mph, got 15 mpg, did 0-60 in just over 4 secs, and was a blast to drive.

    end of rant

As looks/styling are subjective and vary from one person to another, it's easy to argue the merits of the styling of the Mustang II. Sales figures however, don't lie....the Mustang II was a sales success in it's first couple of years, at the very least.

The new generation 2015 may well follow suit. It's styling may not appeal to hard core Mustang enthusiasts, but it still may well be a sales success, with an appeal toward younger buyers and global buyers. With the technology that Ford is putting into their cars today...I would not count out the next gen Mustang from a performance standpoint. Current and future engine tech, coupled with a lighter, tighter and specifically designed suspension Mustang, might even give the next gen Mustang a real performance kick in the pants.

I am anxious to see what Ford will unveil and am keeping a very open mind. Open enough to even be already considering buying a new 2016 Mustang.

All we can do now, is wait and see....and hold our collective Mustang breathes!

Everyone is suddenly a Mustang expert on YouTube and forums all over the World when it comes to the 2014-2015 Mustang, the one thing I know is that NOBODY knows, but because the age of the internet, everyone wants to be the first to break the news. I love it when guys start using numbers, the one thing we all know is you can skew numbers to your arguement, compared to previous years, yes the Mustang sale is down, but does that have to do with the Mustang itself or the economy? The other argument is that the Camaro is #1 in sale, well #1 doesn't mean its better, its like saying "The Hunger Game" is #1 at the box office, but its still a shitty movie, the Camaro was nothing more then a novelty as demand for the Camaro has done down. So the biggest question is what does the 2014-2015 look like, DOESN'T MATTER. With the exception of the 65-67 Mustang, every generation has its critics, how people hate it, how people hate what's coming, but yet the Mustang survived and going on its 50th anniversary, so what does that mean? Ford will have something special for you, you can bet it will have a host of new technology, faster, but the DNA of the Mustang will still be there. I am know is I am excited and will snap it up.

Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with their experience!
