Thumbs up Cobra Front Brakes Installed!!!

I just finished bleeding the system tonight... I painted the calipers red. I replaced the pads with EBC Greenstuff pads. All I can say is damn they are nice for the price. I got them at DiskBrakeRUs.com. I got the matching GT Rotors for the back and the EBC Pads but I haven't done that yet. I will get some pics up soon. I am in a charity golf tourney all day tomorrow, so maybe tomorrow night!

PS - If you are thinking about doing this mod... I had to use my heavy duty impact wrench to get the two anchor bolts loose. I couldn't budge them with a socket. Others have been able to...

Fry dont you know you need to use a cheater... IE a 3foot peice of pipe over the socket wrench. Always use a quaility wrench cause if ya smash it, Ya get to replace it with a lifetime warentee.hehehehehheheh

I hear ya!!! I was able to get the rear anchor bolts off a lot easier yesterday. I think they must of been over torque'd in the front. I will be finishing the rear install tonight. My damn clamp broke last night so I couldn't get the caliper back on the new rotors. I bought another one this morning. I will try to get some good pics tonight!!!!

For those of you who don't want to spend the cash on a Brembo setup, I would highly recommend these brakes. Awesome upgrade for the cost!!!

Thanks Kev! Another note to mention, I drove all weekend on the Cobra Front Brakes with the EBC Greenstuff pads. I was up in the foothills working through Placerville to Camino. I had a lot of braking to do. The setup worked really nice. When I got home, there was a little bit of brake dust on the front wheels. I took out my hose and it all washed right off. Finally, no scrubbing!!! If you want less brake dust, get the EBC Greenstuff pads!

I believe it was like ~$700 for the brakes, and rotors (the backs are GT rotors to match the front). I got the EBC Greenstuff pads from TireRack.com. Remember that you need Cobra pads up front $79 and the GT pads $69 (I believe Cobra pads are the same though) for the back. I wish they would of had the Redstuff pads in stock. Those would of looked nice with the red calipers!!!

Click HERE to view the StangNet thread on these brakes. It tells you what to order (except for the pads) and has some better pics than I have currently. I painted my calipers with some red engine paint spray with two coats of clear coat spray.

I was reading the latest 5.0 mustang mag and it said the only differance between the rear cobra and gt brakes are the pads. they are thinner to cool better. I think (read it bout 4 days ago)

So you say they were bout 700? are they cross drilled in the front cant really tell.

Nope, the rear rotors are slightly bigger on the Cobra. But they require removing the rear axle, installing a new flange, etc. Too much of a pain in the butt to do all that... The rear calipers are the exact same though. So I just got the GT sized cross-drilled/slotted rotors to match the front.

Yes, cross/slotted all the way around. I have some good pics on my site (click on it in my sig). It was something like ~$700. I got EBC pads from TireRack also. I would highly recommend getting them...

EBC Greenstuff pads are excellent! Calipers? You are going to pay a lot to upgrade these suckers. Brembo calipers are not cheap. Just paint your calipers to give them a better look. There are many Stangers that have done it over at Stangnet.com. Just do a search over there...
