    Upgrade questions ?

    Does anyone know if Roush makes a 351 that can replace the 289 in the roushes now? If so how do I find out information pretaining to this as in prices and what options are needed to make the change over ? I am going through all the options that I can do to my engine this winter between which super charger to get if I decide to stay with the 4.6 Roots/Centrifuge/Screw. Also I am highly considering changing my transmission to a T-56 I have the T-45 in it now. Not really a big fan of it at all.

    At this point in time I have started my exterior upgrades after I have completed thoose I will move onto the engine bay. Just doing as much research as possible to the most amount of options that I can as to decide in which route I am going to take with the vehicle. My plans is to have it set up to run on the NASA events out at Summit Point WV race track. I appreciate any and all information I can get reguarding all these things thanks for your time.

    Oh before I forget I have one other question. I have a steeda throw shifter with the Roush Billet shift knob. the shift knob gets alot of heat obsorbed from the transmission. Is there anything I can do to decrease the heat it retains in the knob ?

    Here's the flyer from the Roush Crate Engine. It's a 347....not a 351 though

    Roush Crate Engine

    As far as the shifter knob issue....I have the same problem. Without the rubber bushings (bad) that the stock shifter had between the handle and the shifter itself....there's no way to stop the heat from coming up the shaft. I'm just glad Roush thought to put the little rubber strip around the outside of their Aluminum shifter knob.

    As far as I understand the 4.6 is a 289 engine. Oh Kev I would absolutely love something to fix the heat obsorbtion into the shift handle. That does get kinda annoying on any sort of extended driving trip. Also does anyone know of anyone that has ever exchanged there 4.6 for the 347 crater engine offered by Roush?

    I think that everything offered by Roush so far has not been EFI, only carb'd engines.

    Swapping engines on the newer cars is no picnic. I looked into it when I blew up my S2, and it was going to cost so much money that I decided an S3 with a warranty sounded real tasty

    Liters to Cubic inches goes like this:

    L * 1000 = CC
    CC*.061024 = CI

    So

    L * 1000 * .061024 = CI

    or

    L * 61.024 = CI

    In this case:

    4.6L * 61.024 = 280.7104 commonly referred to as a 281

    289 = 4.73584 or 4.7L
    302 = 4.94887 or 5.0L
    350 = 5.73544 or 5.7L
    351 = 5.75183 or 5.8L

    Thanks for the clarification on that Terry. I wasn't sure of how the calculation went on determining CI from Litters.

    Thanks

    Kev I do not blame you at all. I also thought about just going out and getting a S3. But i decided to just upgrade and build on my S2 since I completely own the thing anyways. Then have to deal with payments all over again. Kinda made this my project car since I am already done with my M Roadster made it a full version Dinan 3. Speedy little mother no doubt but it just doesn't have the deep growl feeling of the mustang. Can't Beat it at all No DOUBT!!!!

    Damn Sticker - that is one handsome driveway you have there

    And, I agree with you. I figure once my S3 is paid off I will consider doing something a bit crazier with it

    See, This is somthing that Kev wouldnt want to try... cause if i had a S3 i wouldnt but.... I always thought this would be killer fun

    find a 5.4 steele block...

    Find a pair of 01 cobra heads,

    forged internals, lower psi around 8

    new blower cams

    maybe a spec stage 3 clutch

    Have a manifold made... there are ones out there rangeing from 1000-2000 that i have found.. you just cant use a 2k intake... sorry heads are different...

    Get a new lighter K member cause you have to throw the engine in from the bottom anyway.... then after all that...

    THROW A PAXTON NOVI 2000 on that bizzzzzzzatch running 15psi

    that my friend has a potential to really do some damage... not only would that find your weak parts on your drivetrain. heheheh.. that would eat a vette/viper/dog/train/plane/sr71 ok now i am getting carried away but you all hear my joy from that.. something that would be great...

    I hate to say it.........but

    you could always find a 351 and throw it in there like my good ol buddy Steve. There is a lot of work involved...especially with the electronics. They also don't make the 351's anymore so you will have to find one.
