Alcon Brake Fit Question

Star driver and I tried one of my front wheels (BBS 18 x 8.5) on his car to see if this wheel would work with the Alcons I purchased from Roushrocks. So damn close but not quite the perfect fit. A little tight. We thought about the possibility of using a spacer but wonder if it might make the wheel stick out a little too far from the fender.

All that to ask if anyone has had any experience using spacers for brake fitment. I would sure like to have these put on if they can be used otherwise I guess I look for a plan B!

Anyone?

Well...I'm not sure about using a spacer, I think that might look really stupid...In that case, I would be more than happy to take the Alcons off your hands.

you can use a wheel spacer on the front, no problem.
just make sure you buy a reputable brand and make sure the wheel spacer is hub centric.
i think the general consensus is that you can go up to 3/8" without having to swap wheel studs, BUT, for your added peace of mind, you might want to replace the wheel studs with longer studs.

i'm not sure how wide of a spacer you would need or even want for the front, but with the Alcons + Roush wheels, the clearance between the wheel spokes and the caliper is only like 5mm.

if your BBS wheels are close (like you said), then perhaps a 5-10mm spacer would work
5mm = .19 inches
10mm = .39inches

moving a wheel out .19 inches is probably not going to be noticeable

I have 1" hubcentric wheel spacers on the back of my stage3. the brand is H&R. the 1" spacers come with their own wheel studs. I have done numerous burn outs, 4 all day road course events and put approximately 15k miles on them with no problems whatsoever.

Thanks! That gives me something else to consider in my decision. Thanks again for the info!
