SN95 5.0 - Head Gasket/Heads/Cam Upgrade

Well. When my Heater Core went out it over heated a couple of times. I blew a head gasket as a result. So today i began the tear down of the motor.

For reference here is what the engine looks like complete.

Since i am replacing the cam i had to take out the radiators. I got a call to play basketball so this is all i got done so far. Tommorrow i will start on the accessories and maybe take the intake off.

Hmmm. Better not take the hood off; it might get "lost"!

Where do you live again?

Any big plans we might want to know about while you have her apart?

Yes. I got an Anderson B-31 cam. 1.6 Harman Sharpe roller rockers.

I have yet to determain if i have the Roush ported heads. If so which ones (cast iron or aluminum Roush offered both) and what damage has occured to the head. I have a new set of AFR 165's ready to go on if i choose. I've got a ton of other stuff to put on/upgrade while i'm at it. I am saving all the take off parts just in case.

I am going to use the Anderson PMS to have it tuned.

You're scorin' on the parts too. I hope if you have the Roush heads they aren't damaged, ya know, just because. Can't wait to see it when it's done

I guess this is jacked up...

I had the hardest time figuring out how to remove that PS pump pulley. You have to get a special puller to take it off and to reinstall it.

Once i got it off the other braket came off easy....

A lot of oil crap everywhere. I am going to redo the PVC system and add an oil seperator to reduce all that oil.

Here are some of the dirty injectors... They will be replcaed with new ones (24lb)

Intake completely off.....

So what heads do i have.... Take a look.....

SCORE.....

Roush CNC Heads.

Hopefully there is no damage to them. They flow better than my AFR165's. So they will be up for sale.

That is all for today....

I hope they are ok. If they are not too bad i will have them repaired. In 1997 they were $2100 heads from Roush. You can see here that tehy flow just as good as the TFS TW heads..

You should change out the Fram Oil Filter while you are at it too!

I'm loving your write-ups! Keep it going!
