So, being that the car doesn't run, don't have an option to trailer it anywhere...how do I drain/remove/relieve pressure from the A/C system. I've read the tech manuals and know about them saying to use the proper equipment, but wtf.
I really need to be able to do this myself, I'll get it all refilled and what not properly after it's all put together obviously...is this a possible thing to do by myself with *any* tools short of special machinery?

Unfortunately, to properly evacuate the system, you will need to seek a professional. Doing it yourself, without the proper equipment, can and usually will do at least two things:
1 - It will not leave the system in the proper pressure state, which can lead to moisture buildup in the lines....moisture = DAMAGE to compressor and or expansion valves 2 - Get you put in JAIL or subject you to hefty fines ![]() Any method other than pro is to be done at your own risk. Sorry bud.

Well WTF, I really have no other option than to do it myself, unless I can figure out how not to do it and still get the engine out. Damn it, I should have asked the dealership when I had them look at it before I towed it home...never enough knew or thought about it at that time.

you can definately pull the motor without discharging the AC. unbolt the compressor and leave it in the engine bay. on my tbird (4.6), you have to lift the motor a couple of inches to get to the last ac compressor bolt (the kmembers are different though), but it definately came out and i never discharged the system. i left the PS pump in the bay too....did not have to disconnect any of those lines either. |
