Just did a clutch swap

Well, I'm done. I posted earlier I was getting the King Cobra setup to replace my 100k+ OEM clutch. I needed to replace the throw out bearing due to a bad squeak, grinding when I push in the clutch and so on. The project was put on hold due to Air Force mission requirements, also posted earlier. I starter yesterday, and finished today.

Anyone who has ever replaced the TOB knows once you get the TOB out, you are only six bolts away from replacing the clutch and eight more bolts to resurface the flywheel. I decided to do both along with the pilot bearing...................all in my garage

I am happy to say it all went ok. The top two bolts on the bellhousing are a BI@TCH! I made sure to locktite all the bolts and torque them to specs, so that took awhile. The only special tools I needed that I did not already have, was a blind hole bearing puller (to remove the small diameter pilot bearing), which I got at Auto-zone on the rent-a-tool deal, and a transmission jack courtesy of Harbor-freight. (This is near impossible without these two tools, the trans jack especially. The T45 is a lot heavier than it looks......)

Tomorrow will be the real test, when I take it for a test drive. (I finished at 1:00am, so I didnt feel like going out tonight) The pedal feel is like heaven compared to before however, and the engagement all feels ok. I suspect it will be pretty close, with perhaps some firewall adjustment.

Sorry, no pictures. When I start working on my cars, I like to push through until I am done, no time for photos. However, if anyone is thinking about doing this as a last minute winter project, I would be more than happy to give tips and advice, as well as the service manual documentation if needed.

(Please note, this post serves no purpose other than to pat myself on the back again....)

Pat Pat Pat....There I think you deserve a few more! Good job, it really feels good to accomplish something like that yourself doesn't it? Now go take a drive!
